Abstract: Despite the increasing attention and research effort, how to protect sensitive information from shoulder surfing attacks is still under studied. Existing methods for protecting sensitive textual content on users' screens from shoulder surfing attacks have various limitations, including ineffectiveness, insufficient protection of sensitive information, low usability, and high cognitive workload. To address those limitations, this paper proposes, develops, and evaluates a new solution called "detection and labeling" (D&L), which uses NLP techniques to automatically detect and label sensitive information in the textual content. The labeled and hidden sensitive information is then read to users through their headphones upon their clicking a label. Evaluation results demonstrate that D&L improves protection, enhances usability, reduces users' cognitive workload, and allows faster browsing speed compared to the baseline methods. Collapse

Abstract: The use of augmented reality (AR) in education and training is growing increasingly. However, applications to integrate augmented reality learning content into training for basic electrical engineering courses are scarce. The individual learning objectives of trainees complicate the digitalization of learning content, particularly for the drawing of circuit diagrams. To increase trainees' learning outcome while simultaneously relieving instructors of classroom supervision, we designed and developed an AR-based prototype, to enhance hand-drawn circuit diagrams in vocational training. The context sensitivity is achieved by combining AR with image recognition. In an experiment with twelve participants, a positive impact of the prototype on trainees' learning outcomes was observed, in comparison to a control group that received instructions without the prototype. Abstract: In the current era of digital transformation, organizations are faced with an unprecedented volume of data that requires proper management. In order to effectively manage this data, organizations need to understand the data's requirements and usage. In addition, organizations want to leverage this data to improve their business processes and gain valuable insights. Unfortunately, many organizations lack visibility into which data attributes are being used within their processes and at what stage of the process they are being used. To address this problem, this paper presents a prototype called ADAM that uses process mining to identify data attributes and their associated metadata from processes. We provide a detailed description of the requirements gathered for the prototype and explain the design and implementation of ADAM. In particular, we show how ADAM can be utilized to identify data attributes and their specifications used in processes from an SAP ERP system. Collapse

Abstract: Educational videos play an important role in university education. However, they are often not designed to foster active learning and the learning process is not immersive. Interactive digital storytelling is a promising game design element but requires a rigorous evaluation to avoid negative side effects. Therefore, we adopt a design science research approach to design and evaluate an interactive video that includes interactive storytelling and real-world recordings. The proposed artifact aims to raise information security awareness among bachelor students at a German university for malicious USB sticks and the reporting of incidents. In our evaluation, we focus on learning progress before and after using the video as well as qualitative feedback about the experience with the learning object. Our results show that videos that are based on interactive choice-based storytelling can foster an active and immersive process, and significant learning outcomes. Collapse

Abstract: The development and increasing use of technology worldwide can lead to potential negative consequences for individuals' well-being and productivity. To counteract negative consequences, both scientific research and practice have shown increasing interest in digital detox research, a rising phenomenon of abstinence and temporary or complete disengagement from digital technologies. To lay a foundation for future research, we conducted a systemic literature review with a focus on the methodological aspects of the existing empirical digital detox studies. Our literature search process revealed a total of 65 studies. Our analyses of this literature basis revealed five different research fields (communication, education, tourism, well-being and health, work environment), and we analyzed the empirical studies in these fields regarding applied research approach, research method, and sample size. This review provides methodological insights to advance the scientific inquiry on digital detox research, a relatively nascent, yet increasingly relevant research topic. Collapse

Abstract: While the emerging research field of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) claims to address the lack of explainability in high-performance machine learning models, in practice, XAI targets developers rather than actual end-users. Unsurprisingly, end-users are often unwilling to use XAI-based decision support systems. Similarly, there is limited interdisciplinary research on end-users' behavior during XAI explanations usage, rendering it unknown how explanations may impact cognitive load and further affect end-user performance. Therefore, we conducted an empirical study with 271 prospective physicians, measuring their cognitive load, task performance, and task time for distinct implementationindependent XAI explanation types using a COVID-19 use case. We found that these explanation types strongly influence end-users' cognitive load, task performance, and task time. Further, we contextualized a mental efficiency metric, ranking local XAI explanation types best, to provide recommendations for future applications and implications for sociotechnical XAI research. Abstract: The globalization of the world economy increases the role of value chains, where disruptions in the realization of the logistics processes occur repeatedly. Climate changes, pandemics, and military conflicts further increase the difficulties in matching supply and demand in a vast majority of networks. As a result, the digital transformation of Supply Chain Management (SCM) often referred to as Digital Supply Chain (DSC) is considered an important solution for several SCM concerns. Extensive subject matter literature research pointed out that several technologies have been studied and implemented as DSC solutions contrary to blockchain technology. Therefore, the research aims of this article is to examine the challenges of DSC with particular emphasis on blockchain technology perception in this context. Research has been conducted via structured in-depth interviews with SCM experts. Study results highlighted that blockchain is perceived by SCM experts as a technology with significant capability to support the creation of DSC, but unfortunately used at all. They also pointed out that blockchain should not be the technology of the first choice when initiating the digitization of SCM processes, but potentially beneficial for mature DSC. Collapse

Abstract: Contemporary organizations are increasingly adopting conversational agents (CAs) as intelligent and natural language-based solutions for providing services and information. CAs promote new forms of personalization, speed, cost-effectiveness, and automation. However, despite their hype in research and practice, organizations fail to sustain CAs in operations. They struggle to leverage CAs’ potential because they lack knowledge on how to evaluate and improve the quality of CAs throughout their lifecycle. We build on this research gap by conducting a design science research (DSR) project, aggregating insights from the literature and practice to derive a validated set of quality criteria for CAs. Our study contributes to CA research and guides practitioners by providing a blueprint to structure the evaluation of CAs to discover areas for systematic improvement. Collapse

Abstract: Intelligent process automation is a technological innovation that combines symbolic automation tools with machine learning. Intelligent process automation can automate complex tasks that otherwise have to be performed by humans when symbolic automation is not powerful enough. Regardless of the high economic potential for companies, the adoption rate in practice is comparatively low. This could be due to the adoption behavior of the employees. In our work, we iteratively develop a Unified Theory of Acceptance and use of Technology (UTAUT) model for the adoption of intelligent process automation and evaluate it with an empirical study. With our research we want to empower designers to adapt the corresponding tools in the future to increase adoption. The study shows that, in addition to established factors for technology adoption, trust, transparency, and attitude towards technology are primary decision factors. Collapse
