Abstract: Disasters bring uncertainties and substantial health, economic, social, and psychological challenges. Effective management of disasters requires thorough understanding of their causes, nature, and consequences. Affected individuals may, therefore, seek instant, trustworthy information from different sources including social networking sites (SNSs). This study investigates what leads individuals to seek disaster information on SNSs. The investigated potential drivers are source credibility (SC), argument quality (AQ), self-efficacy (SEF), perceived usefulness of information (OUI), and behavioral intention (INT). The results confirm the newly emerged source & argument quality (SAQ) construct, SEF, and PUI are significant antecedents of INT, which in turn influences disaster information seeking behavior (ISB) via SNSs. Abstract: We propose a conceptual model of acceptance of contact tracing apps based on the privacy calculus perspective. Moving beyond the duality of personal benefits and privacy risks, we theorize that users hold social consider­ ations (i.e., social benefits and risks) that underlie their acceptance decisions. To test our propositions, we chose the context of COVID-19 contact tracing apps and conducted a qualitative pre-study and longitudinal quanti­ tative main study with 589 participants from Germany and Switzerland. Our findings confirm the prominence of individual privacy calculus in explaining intention to use and actual behavior. While privacy risks are a sig­ nificant determinant of intention to use, social risks (operationalized as fear of mass surveillance) have a notably stronger impact. Our mediation analysis suggests that social risks represent the underlying mechanism behind the observed negative link between individual privacy risks and contact tracing apps’ acceptance. Furthermore, we find a substantial intention–behavior gap. Collapse

Abstract: Following the [2007][2008][2009] financial crisis, the proliferation of FinTech innovations has posed several challenges for regulators. To overcome the dual challenge of simultaneously tightening control and facilitating a conducive environment for innovations, regulators have recently started a series of regulatory initiatives. Our study focuses on one such initiative in the form of regulatory sandboxes, where we examine how regulatory sandboxes help regulators in regulating FinTech innovations. We collect and analyze archival records of several regulatory sandboxes across the globe based on an integration of the taxonomy building and case study approach. Preliminary findings demonstrate three broad categories of sandboxes-the ones designed as learning devices, the ones designed as controlling devices and the others designed as hybrid devicesserving very distinct objectives. Our study intends to contribute to the emergent literature on regulatory sandboxes, as well as the broader phenomenon of open regulation in general. Collapse

Abstract: The advances in information and communication technologies led to significantly transforming the transportation sector. Ride-hailing or on-demand transportation services like Uber offer users more convenient and fast services. This research investigates factors influencing the adoption of ride-hailing services from both technical and cultural perspectives. The research examines the state of Qatar as a case study on users' perception towards ride-hailing adoption, which may present different perspective from the Western society. The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) is adopted as a theoretical framework by incorporating cultural elements, namely the cultural appropriateness and the conspicuous consumption. Abstract: Organizations have often implemented Knowledge Management programs to connect employees better and promote knowledge sharing (KS). In the context of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), this is particularly valid as knowledge creation and dissemination direct their mission and vision. Academics are one of the pillars of HEIs, where knowledge is created and shared. Nonetheless, as HEIs strive to promote academics’ knowledge sharing culture, the actual behaviour of academics might remain inhibited by numerous issues, namely the organizational. Prior research has been focused primarily on individual, technological and scarce aspects of organizational elements. Therefore, this study assesses the role of organizational climate operationalized by organizational leadership and trust in academics’ KS in HEIs. Partial Least Square (PLS) method where variancebased Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was applied in this study. Results from 257 surveyed academics indicate that organizational climate has an exceptionally strong influence on academics’ KS practices. Additionally, organizational leadership and trust had a positive relationship with academics’ KS behaviour. These findings indicate that it is necessary to consider organizational elements and their interactions when understanding and fostering academics’ knowledge sharing behaviour in HEIs context. Abstract: A B S T R A C TThe global spread and use of internet and mobile contributed to the development of digital payments and baking. There is a lack of research which provides comprehensive synthesis and analysis of factors affecting the use and adoption of digital banking and payment methods in GCC countries. Thus, the aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive literature review and perform weight and meta-analysis. By reviewing 46 studies, it was found that best predictors for digital payment and banking adoption in GCC countries are trust, perceived security and perceived usefulness. Based on the extensive literature review, the conceptual of factors affecting adoption digital banking and payment methods in Gulf countries model was proposed, which will set agenda for future research. Abstract: Although its structure and strategies are rapidly evolving, the impact of the eHealth on the healthcare services is evident. Implementing eHealth systems on a national level can drastically enhance the health practices and services provided to the patients and community. Hence, the engineering of a new model and a holistic framework for eHealth systems becomes a necessity in order to have an effective implementation of these systems. The vast and rapid development in computers, communication, and Internet technologies has significantly affected the contemporary health systems. However, the complexity of the healthcare environment, the abundance of information, the compatibility and the lack of unified eHealth framework creates real challenges to present efficient and attractive eHealth model that encompasses all these elements. Furthermore, the security of the health records and the secure access to the information add a new dimension of complexity. This work presents a new model and an integrated framework for an efficient implementation of eHealth systems at the national level. The proposed model and framework successfully incorporate all the success factors of efficient eHealth system along with a new security model to access the health records. Collapse

Abstract: This study aims to explore trust factors affecting the use and adoption of e-government services and its impact on civic engagement. The constructs identified in this study are related to theories of technology adoption in addition to trust constructs: trust in government, trust in technology, and trust in egovernment. The study attempts to propose a model and validate it in the context of a developing country. As this study is exploratory in nature, a questionnaire survey is undertaken using a small sample of 137 participants. The findings show the validity and the reliability of the constructs which are positively correlated with each other. The findings of general Linear model analysis propose a model of trust factors that have significant relationships with the adoption of e-government services and leading to civic engagement. Abstract: The past few years have witnessed growing governmental interest in engaging citizens through social media. With this interest comes a genuine need to understand the process and outcomes of government–citizen interactions. Therefore, this article seeks to address this important issue by proposing and validating a SocioCitizenry theory that depicts government–citizen interaction through social media. The present study uses data gathered through two field surveys and analyses the relationships among three main SocioCitizenry constructs: quality anticipation, trust configuration, and approved adaptation. The following factors are examined with respect to the aforementioned three constructs: differential influences of familiarity with social media and government services; perceived importance of interactions with government services; social media quality reputation; and family members’ and friends’ perceptions of social media quality. Overall, results show that anticipated governmental social media quality influences configured trust, which in turn influences the extent of approved adaptation. The implications of these results in research and practice are discussed. Collapse

Abstract: This study examines the role of online social network proximity in cross-national diffusion of offline protests. Drawn upon Valente’s (1995) network diffusion model, the study operationalizes social network proximity-based protest exposure, using the international Facebook friendship share data. One year-long onsite protests during Arab Spring 2011 are examined using event history modeling. The findings offer evidence of an contemporaneous online network exposure effect on cross-national diffusion of protests. An expected lagged diffusion effect was not found, however. The paper presents an innovative approach to the scholarship of global protest diffusion and collective actions. Collapse
