Abstract: The use of augmented reality (AR) in education and training is growing increasingly. However, applications to integrate augmented reality learning content into training for basic electrical engineering courses are scarce. The individual learning objectives of trainees complicate the digitalization of learning content, particularly for the drawing of circuit diagrams. To increase trainees' learning outcome while simultaneously relieving instructors of classroom supervision, we designed and developed an AR-based prototype, to enhance hand-drawn circuit diagrams in vocational training. The context sensitivity is achieved by combining AR with image recognition. In an experiment with twelve participants, a positive impact of the prototype on trainees' learning outcomes was observed, in comparison to a control group that received instructions without the prototype. Abstract: In the current era of digital transformation, organizations are faced with an unprecedented volume of data that requires proper management. In order to effectively manage this data, organizations need to understand the data's requirements and usage. In addition, organizations want to leverage this data to improve their business processes and gain valuable insights. Unfortunately, many organizations lack visibility into which data attributes are being used within their processes and at what stage of the process they are being used. To address this problem, this paper presents a prototype called ADAM that uses process mining to identify data attributes and their associated metadata from processes. We provide a detailed description of the requirements gathered for the prototype and explain the design and implementation of ADAM. In particular, we show how ADAM can be utilized to identify data attributes and their specifications used in processes from an SAP ERP system. Collapse

Abstract: The increasing share of renewable energy sources poses the challenge of volatile energy generation, requiring demand side management (DSM) to manage such volatility. In view of the high industrial electricity demand and the increasing charging demand of electric vehicles (EVs), both industry and mobility represent relevant areas of DSM. However, the combination of EV charging and energy-intensive industrial processes still contains untapped synergy potentials. Thus, we present a mixed-integer linear program and quantify the economic and ecologic potential of combining energy flexibilities of industry and electric mobility within a case study. For our evaluation, we compare the results of our model to a benchmark case that separately manages industry and EV flexibilities. Our findings suggest that implementing our approach would yield both economic and ecological benefits, resulting in a reduction in anticipated costs and emissions, as well as a decrease in associated uncertainty. Abstract: With the explosive growth of mobile phone users, individuals are getting used to using mobile phones to get various services. Mobile government, as one of important channels to provide official government services, has been paid increasingly attention recently. In order to discover the critical influence factors of individual attitude and behavioral intention, a meta-analysis method was used to construct a comprehensive framework for individual mobile government adoption and find out the moderating role of economic development level, based on 38 related empirical research publications. Abstract: Digital" is a popular adjective for concepts related to electronic, computerized or networked processes in current research and practice. From an ontological-theoretical perspective, the prevalence of digital things triggers the question, how Digitality itself could be conceptualized. This article studies the ontology of Digitality and consequently discusses Digital Innovation (DI) from a new perspective. First, literature on Digitality is analyzed. Based on the findings, an ontological conceptual framework of Digitality (OCFD) is proposed. It describes four layers of Digitality: physical foundations, virtuality, digital culture and world, and digital metaphysics. From a human perspective, requirements to grasp and embody Digitality are highlighted, as well as the expansion of reality. Finally, Digitality is discussed as a paradigm of DI and exemplary digital phenomena are projected onto the OCFD. This paper contributes to DI research and practice through theory-building towards a better understanding of ontological characteristics and practical implications of Digitality in DI. Collapse

Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) can significantly contribute to decentralizing and digitalizing the energy sector and environmental sustainability. Integrating AI-driven smart energy services (SES), such as energy production forecasting, building energy management, and predictive maintenance, remain in an early phase for plant providers or energy utilities. However, the knowledge regarding key factors determining the design of AI-driven SES is limited in the literature. Therefore, we derive critical success factors (CSFs) for the design of AI-driven SES in a design science research (DSR) approach in connection with the design thinking process. We identified ten CSFs and 31 CSF categories by iteratively combining the knowledge of interviewed AI business experts, scientific literature, and results of AI programming projects with students. Based on this, we developed a further research agenda containing six research demands and direct further research questions. Research Needs and MotivationAI solutions in the energy sector can be deployed for various tasks, such as energy generation forecasting, demand side management, building energy management, weather forecasting, predictive maintenance, plant and storage management, and energy price forecasting (Li et al. 2022). A forecast for the year 2025 predicts that the AI software market will generate annual revenue of 126 billion US dollars (Omdia 2020). Reasons for the increasing integration are the development of technologies for the collection and storage of big data and the constantly evolving computing power (Haenlein and Kaplan 2019). According to Nishant et al. (2020) AI systems in the energy sector contribute threefold: to task automation, gaining insights from data, e.g., documents, videos, and e-mails, and solving complex problems through computing capabilities. Automation tasks include the automated usage of drones for inspection and safety purposes. Gaining insights from data involves image analysis to provide predictive maintenance for power lines or energy production forecasting for energy planning. Solving complex problems includes planning efficient and multiple usages of battery storage (Nishant et al. 2020;Quest et al. 2022). Therefore, AI solutions, here AIdriven SES, can significantly impact energy efficiency and contribute to environmental sustainability, decarbonization, and decentralization of the energy sector (Antonopoulos et al. 2020;Nishant et al. 2020). Environmental sustainability, one of the three dimensions of sustainable development, concerns climate change and the measures required to quantify and reduce its impacts. Sustainability must be understood as consuming natural resources only so that future generations are not exposed to natural resource depletion (Purvis et al. 2019). Abstract: In the field of information systems, new technologies are giving rise to a wide range of new research topics that present researchers with new challenges. Innovations, such as artificial intelligence, have an enormous impact on society, in addition to technological progress towards automation, above all or precisely because of this. In this context, Society 5.0 was initiated to establish criteria for research and its artifacts. In this paper, evaluation criteria of a Society 5.0 are identified, which should be considered for Design Science Research artifacts in the future. Through a comprehensive literature review, 14 evaluation criteria and a new DSR goal were identified and integrated into the existing framework of Hevner et al. (2018). Abstract: While decentralized finance (DeFi) has the potential to emulate and, indeed, outperform existing financial systems, it remains a complex phenomenon yet to be extensively researched. To make the most of this potential, its practitioners must gain a rigorous understanding of its intricacies, as must information systems (IS) researchers. Against this background, this study uses a multivocal literature review to capture the state of research in DeFi. Thereby, we (1) present a consolidating definition of DeFi as we (2) analyze, synthesize, and discuss the current state of knowledge in the field of DeFi. We do so while adapting the blockchain research framework proposed by (Risius and Spohrer, Business & Information Systems Engineering 59:385–409, 2017). Furthermore, we (3) identify gaps in the literature and indicate future research directions in DeFi. Even though our findings highlight several shortcomings in DeFi that have prevented its widespread adoption, our literature review shows a large consensus on DeFi’s many promising features and potential to complement the traditional financial system. To that end, this paper is presented to encourage further research to mitigate the current risks of DeFi, the payoff of which will be an enriched financial ecosystem. Collapse

Abstract: As information systems become increasingly complex, software testing is being recognized as a key element in this process. However, organizations continue to encounter challenges in effectively implementing and executing testing procedures, highlighting the persisting difficulty arising from a lack of knowledge and awareness. Thus, it is crucial to understand the challenges related to software testing to point out educational needs in software testing. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the current challenges related to software testing, this study conducted an empirical cross-sectional interview study with 23 experts. Additionally, a literature review was conducted to investigate if there are any discrepancies or similarities between the current challenges identified in academic research and industry, emphasizing relevant educational needs in software testing. The software testing life cycle was utilized as a framework to systematically present the results. Overall, this study provides insights into the challenges of software testing and current educational needs. Collapse
