Abstract: Transport infrastructure systems are very complex and expensive. Projects to procure such systems are costly, long and complex to manage. The procurement context usually includes many collaborating organizations but often with different concerns and priorities, and many interactions to other parties. This makes the procurement very complex and entangled. DoDAF, MoDAF and TRAK are three architecture frameworks (AF) that model the whole enterprise/system life cycle that includes system procurement. They are expressed as metamodels. In this paper, we analyse various procurements strategies and identify the concerns that AFs should address. The TRAK AF is then applied to a Rail procurement case study in collaboration with Transport for New South Wales (NSW) in Australia to assess its effectiveness in meeting the procurement needs. In all stages of the study, TRAK is mapped and compared to DoDAF and MoDAF to examine whether DoDAF or MoDAF can cover the inadequacies of TRAK. This paper shows that there is a considerable number of procurement needs which are overlooked by these architecture frameworks. It proposes a metamodel driven expansion to these frameworks to improve their completeness and expressiveness. Collapse

Abstract: In the context of disaster management, the intervention of Autonomous Systems brings many benefits to human rescuers. Autonomous Systems can quickly reach regions that may be inaccessible for humans. In addition, they can perform a rapid mapping of the impacted area and therefore enhancing the human knowledge. However, it is necessary to choose the best Autonomous Systems according to (i) mission environment and (ii) mission objectives. In this article, we describe our work on ArcTurius rover, a wheeled Autonomous System in support to disaster management. We validated its design through simulation and formal verification. A first simulation step occurs during the system definition. This allows to formally verify the design choices. A second type of simulation is performed to check the adequacy of the rover with respect to a specific mission. Thus, an Autonomous System can be adapted prior to a real mission to enhance its level of performance. Collapse

Abstract: Activities for the comprehension and development of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) include analysis of multiple disciplines including mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, systems engineering and computer science. This work presents a comprehensive and applicable methodology for the initial activities of the development process of CPS. This methodology displays the capacity to describe and enable detailed analysis of the relevant properties of these systems as, for example, time speciﬁcation, resources, communication and non-functional properties of CPS. In this research, two consolidated approaches of Model-Based Engineering are used in a combined way for proposing a methodology for requirements analysis, modeling and formal speciﬁcation of CPS. Initially, a strategy for the deﬁnition, modeling, speciﬁcation, and categorization of requirements in a tabular way is proposed. From the system deﬁnition in a high abstraction level, the SysML Requirements diagram is extended by using UML proﬁle MARTE/VSL for formalization of restrictions, annotations and stereotypes in the model. Initial results of the application of the proposed methodology are presented by means of a case study of the Industrial Packing System. Collapse

Abstract: The UML proﬁle for Modeling and Analysis of RealTime and Embedded Systems (MARTE) describes semantics and syntax for designing embedded and real-time systems, providing capabilities for representing the intrinsic characteristics of these systems, such as resource allocation, time criteria, non-functional characteristics, among others. MARTE provides different constructors and appropriate annotations for design activities allowing representation of quantitative characteristics that are relevant to the domain of a real-time system such as, for example, deadlines, periods, processing capacity, timing, and also qualitative characteristics that relate to system performance, including methods of communication and concurrence. This paper presents an in-depth study about the CoreElements, Time and GRM packages of the MARTE proﬁle. In addition, it presents an initial analysis of conformity of MARTE constructors in the context of the speciﬁcation processes and design of automotive systems. It is important to emphasize that the presented models are strengthened with MARTE constructors,by allowing the representation of functional and non-functional requirements, performance and temporal restrictions in the ﬁeld of automotive systems already in initial stages of system design. Abstract: The wireless communication has played a signiﬁcant impact on our daily lives introducing simplicity and making life more comfortable. As a result of faster technological advances in electronics and communications, the development of diﬀerent types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has become possible. Recently, many eﬀorts have been made to develop more eﬃcient inter- and intra-vehicle communication protocols introducing new challenges, e. g. multiple-UAV communication and Flying Ad Hoc Networks (FANETs). However, most of the experiments using real prototypes or systems are not feasible due to the costs and risks involved. Thus, simulating network protocol behavior in FANET scenarios is increasingly required to evaluate the applicability of developed network protocols. Thereby, we have been developing AVENS, a hybrid aerial network simulation framework, which merges LARISSA Architectural Model, X-Plane Flight Simulator and OMNeT++ Discrete Event Simulator. In a proof-of-concept study, we highlighted its advantages. Using AVENS, we can advance in the state-of-the-art concerning performance evaluation of intelligent aerial vehicles and provide means to evaluate the development of protocols, codes and systems more accurately. Abstract: The aim of the medication-use process (MUP) of a hospital consists in preparing the medicines for each patient every day. The reengineering of the MUP is an important challenge in order to reduce medication errors and costs for the pharmacy. This paper deals with a new methodology of modeling the interactions with the hospital information system (HIS). This methodology is inspired by component-based approach, the paradigm of system of systems (SoS) and the methodology ASDI (analysis–specification–design–implementation). First, the paper shows how the MUP can be compared to a holonic manufacturing system (HMS). So then, the goal of the new methodology proposed consists of designing easily a library of components for an HMS and more specifically for a MUP in a hospital. Finally, an example of the application of this modeling to the hospital of Clermont-Ferrand is presented. The goal is to help the pharmacists to make up their decisions in order to reorganize and design a new pharmacy of a hospital. Collapse
