Abstract: Marginalized communities globally encounter grand challenges such as lack of access to education, healthcare, and sustained livelihoods. Several initiatives to address these complex, global problems have resulted in fragmented solutions. Recognizing this, there have been several calls for the study of responsible innovation (RI) to address grand challenges. Digital platforms such as AirBnB, Uber and so forth have now become commonplace and are known to generate economic value but also face criticism for being exploitative and exclusive. Only a handful of studies show how similar platforms can innovate responsibly to serve marginalized communities by generating simultaneous economic and social value. To address this gap, our study examines the cases of two platforms that orchestrated ecosystems consisting of individuals from marginalized communities, government agencies, and other entities to provide physical, digital and societal solutions based on principles of RI. We contribute to the RI and IS literatures to show how RI solutions can be fostered through digital platforms to address grand challenges. The article provides empirical evidence of all four dimensions of the RI framework—anticipation, reflexivity, inclusion, and responsiveness - and their operationalization through digital platforms. This research lays the foundation for future studies at the intersection of RI and digital platforms literature. The study also provides practice insights on developing digital platform solutions for marginalized communities to address grand challenges and is useful to policymakers to formulate appropriate interventions. It pushes the theoretical and practice boundaries of our understanding of RI and digital platforms. Collapse

Abstract: Drawing upon resource orchestration theory, we argue that deploying digitally-driven business capability aligned with supply chain governance may improve supply chain resilience. Using a sample of Chinese agri­ culture firms, the empirical analysis verified three fit mechanisms (complementing fit, balancing fit, and configuring fit) between digitally-driven business capability and supply chain governance and their effects on supply chain resilience. This research offers novel insights into the specific actualization mechanisms by which digitally-driven business capability and supply chain governance jointly improve supply chain resilience. Abstract: The significance of means to feed the world population despite its steady increase in number cannot be overstated. Efficient and effective agricultural policies and their implementation along with advances in science and technology have together helped pave the way for supply to meet demand for food around the world. With the importance and constraints that are associated with food supply chains and the potential for security violations, food supply chains need to be secured to avoid unnecessary damage. Security of food supply chains is therefore of paramount importance. Recent advances in IoT and blockchain technology have facilitated security improvements in this general area. Abstract: Although multichannel sales strategies have become common due to the use of advanced information technologies, how one trading mechanism can influence the outcome of another, especially in the B2B market, remains largely underexplored. This paper investigates the effect of price and quantity information from an online posted-price presales channel on the performance of the century-old sequential Dutch auction system. Sellers can control the price paid and make a proportion of their stock available in auction presales. Anything left after presales is sold via auctions. Our analysis of nearly 1.5 million flower lots reveals a positive effect with higher auction prices and total revenue for lots listed in presales than for lots that are not. The result holds even for lots with no actual sales in the presales, indicating that buyers pay close attention to the additional information from the posted-price presales channel. By teasing out the information effect of presales prices and presales quantity on auction prices, we evaluate a number of pricing strategies. The results suggest that selling at a high price in presales is still more beneficial than selling more by discounting prices. Collapse

Abstract: Social networking sites provide a new means of communication for disseminating cutting-edge agricultural technologies. These are unmediated interaction channels that enable a user to communicate their experience with technology and generate negative or positive attitudes that impact technology adoption decisions. We employ a machine learning approach to analyse users' existing semantic predisposition for technology adoption in agriculture at various operational levels. While developing attitudes toward technology adoption, these semantic tendencies become an important aspect of users' cognitive decision making. The study scrapes user comments and conversations about agritech on Twitter through data mining. The research also explains the important characteristics that enhance attitude building on Twitter and are responsible for reinforcing decision making among information seekers using four machine learning models. Based on the results, the research recommends strategies to managers for better communication with agriculturists and enhancement of users' decision making. , e-commerce, m-commerce, e-government and digital and social media marketing. He has published more than 300 papers in a range of leading academic journals, conference proceedings, books etc. He has co-edited five books on digital and social media marketing, emerging markets and supply and operations management. Abstract: Agriculture is one of these sectors where Internet of Things (IoT) is expected to make a major impact. Yet, its adoption in the sector falls behind the expectations. This paper presents an extensive review of 1355 publications over the last decade, with an aim to highlight the state-of-the-art of research on IoT in agriculture and investigate its slow adoption. The literature review reveals that the "big three" barriers for the overall sector are cost, skills, and standardization, while the lack of connectivity and data governance are two key reasons why most of the proposed IoT solutions are standalone systems of limited scope and the majority of commercial IoT efforts focuses on practices under protected indoor environment. Lastly, the analysis of past research along the five layers of IoT system architecture reveals limited attention on barriers and solutions at the business layer, which represents a research opportunity for information systems scholars. Drawing on the in­ formation technology-enabled organizational capabilities (IT-enabled OCs) perspective, this study empirically verifies that big data analytics promotes ARS and risk management capability. Abstract: The IoT can help firms to innovate and to address new business opportunities. However, many companies face difficulties in developing products and services based on the IoT with a clear and valid value proposition (the core of any business model). Considering this, we aimed to answer the following research question: which elements need to be considered to define value propositions for IoT-based products and services? We used the Design Science Research method, developing a conceptualization that guided the creation and testing of a framework to support the definition of this type of value proposition. The framework was evaluated by 33 academic experts and practitioners and tested in four real companies. It addresses critical dimensions and elements to the value proposition considering affordances and constraints related to the IoT architecture to generate different types of values for different actors and the strategic positioning of IoT-based products and services. Abstract: Extant approaches to information provisioning to farmers to improve agricultural productivity, and thereby alleviate poverty have relied on top-down external expert-driven knowledge. Such external knowledge involves decontextualised content and the use of technical language, and is resource-intensive. An alternative view emphasises the need to explore indigenous knowledge exists in rural communities, which, in contrast, requires the use of local resources, is easily un­ derstandable, and has greater potential for adoption. This paper explores how information and communication technologies, specifically videos, can be leveraged to curate such indigenous knowledge and convert it to knowledge commons. Adopting a case study approach that involved multiple sources of data collection over a nine-year period, we unearthed a dynamic process model that we labelled as knowledge commoning. It is a process through which latent-actionoriented knowledge from high-yield farmers embedded within its social context is made avail­ able as commons. The creation of knowledge commons is an iterative process between knowledge curation and knowledge dissemination, and is guided by the demand and uptake potential within local farming communities. Further, we describe how socio-cultural barriers in knowledge commoning can be overcome through scaffolding, involving the concealment of social trans­ formation objectives within another goal desired by the community. Technological challenges can be overcome through the process of technoficing, which encompasses pursuing social objectives using technology that is appropriate for the purpose. Building on our process model, we offer contributions to theory, practice, and policy. Collapse
