Abstract: Stress is a societal and economical problem increasingly discussed in literature. Although technology may itself induce stress, various studies highlight its potential for stress management. Current research focusses on developing systems that assess people’s stress using mobile devices’ sensing capabilities. These mobile stress assessment (MSA) systems collect and analyze sensor data on the user, the environment, and their interplay. Various instantiations have demonstrated the feasibility of MSA in different application scenarios. However, a common ground on MSA design is yet missing. In this work, we investigate design-related differences and commonalities of MSA in a literature analysis comprising 112 studies. We establish a design knowledge base, which introduces an abstract blueprint consisting of common architectural components, proposes design elements shaping the design depending on the application scenario, and describes archetypes prevailing in current literature. Future research should extend our work to a design theory to promote stress-adaptive information systems development. Collapse

Abstract: Although researchers have uncovered potential positive impacts of digital technologies in healthcare and medical centers have been increasingly making use of technology to digitally store their data, the use of healthcare analytics in clinical practice remains limited. In particular, the application of machine learning (ML) approaches, although holding the potential of providing valuable insights, is mainly restricted to descriptive ML, due to the approximate nature of ML, the impact of inaccuracies, and the perceived potential additional efforts in clinical workflows. Taking into account these barriers to healthcare analytics adoption, in this multidisciplinary study, we obtained and jointly analyzed cancer data on 799 cases of cranio-maxillofacial and oral-maxillofacial surgery. We developed a real-time decision support system that predicts optimal treatments and communicates its prediction confidence along with patient attributes that are significant to decision making, thereby providing potentials simultaneously for improving quality of care and for increasing process efficiency for physicians. Abstract: This paper presents an efficient Web Service Discovery approach based on hierarchical clustering. Conventional web service discovery approaches usually organize the service repository in a list manner, therefore service matchmaking is performed with linear complexity. In this work, services in a repository are clustered using hierarchical clustering algorithms with a distance measure from an attached matchmaker. Service discovery is then performed over the resulting dendrogram (binary tree). In comparison with conventional approaches that mostly perform exhaustive search, we show that service-clustering method brings a dramatic improvement on time complexity with an acceptable loss in precision. Abstract: Micro-blogging is increasingly evolving from a daily chatting tool into a critical platform for individuals and organizations to seek and share real-time news updates during emergencies. However, seeking and extracting useful information from micro-blogging sites poses significant challenges due to the volume of the traffic and the presence of a large body of irrelevant personal messages and spam. In this paper, we propose a novel recommendation framework to overcome this problem. By analyzing information diffusion patterns among a large set of micro-blogs that play the role of emergency news providers, our approach selects a small subset as recommended emergency news feeds for regular users. We evaluate our diffusion-based recommendation framework on Twitter during the early outbreak of H1N1 Flu. The evaluation results show that our method results in more balanced and comprehensive recommendations compared to benchmark approaches. Collapse
