Abstract: By considering recent findings from cognitive dual process theories, I propose a new technology acceptance model for situations in which IT is used everyday. The so-called “Personal Information Technology Acceptance Model” (PITAM) will be applied to the IT-consumerization area and it will be evaluated by a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) dataset from 171 working professionals aged from 18 to 68 years. As a result I found empirical evidence for the speculation that BYOD user behavior is primarily driven by Perceived Enjoyment as a System 1 IS construct and System 2 IS constructs such as Perceived Usefulness are results of post hoc constructions/justifications of (intended) BYOD usage. Abstract: It still remains unclear whether the decision to outsource IT is governed by rule of efficiency or from institutional constraints imposed by the state and the professions in order to gain legitimacy through institutional isomorphism. Our analysis is based on a unique data set that contains all first-time decisions of publicly listed German firms to engage in large-scale IT outsourcing between 1990 and 2008. We find that both motives play a role for IT outsourcing decisions. Firms are more likely to make a first-time decision for IT outsourcing when they have a considerable low cost efficiency, a low ratio of cash to liabilities, and low earnings per share. Also a firm is more likely to sign an IT outsourcing contract if successful and large peers have already made the same decision. We find that firms with a low cost efficiency are likely to choose IT outsourcing contracts with duration of more than five years while firm with low earnings per share tend to engage in short-term contracts. Consequently, economic reasons as well as institutional factors have to be kept in mind when analyzing large-scale IT outsourcing decisions. Studies that focus only on one of these motives without acknowledging the other may omit important factors. Collapse

Abstract: The rapid development of information technology has changed the dynamics of financial markets. The main purpose of this study is laid on examining the role of IT based stock trading on financial market efficiency. This research specifically focused on algorithmic trading. Algorithmic trading enables investors to trade stocks through a computer program without the need for human interventions. Based on an empirical analysis of the Korean stock market, this study discovered the positive impact of algorithmic trading on stock market efficiency at three-fold. First, the study results indicate that algorithmic trading contributes to the reduction in asymmetric volatility, which causes inefficiency of information in a stock market. Second, an algorithmic trading also increases the operation efficiency of a stock market. Arbitrage trading contributes on the equilibrium between the spot market and futures market as well as on the price discovery. Third, algorithmic trading provides liquidity for market participants contributing to friction free transactions. The research results indicate that stock exchanges based on electronic communications networks (ECNs) without human intervention could augment a financial market quality by increasing trading share volumes and market efficiency so that it can eventually contribute to the welfare of market investors.
