Abstract: Facing ever-looming climate change, studying the drivers for individuals ' Information Systems (IS) Use to reduce environmental harm gains momentum. While extant research on the antecedents of sustainable IS Use has focused on specific theories, interventions, contexts, and technologies, a holistic understanding has become increasingly elusive, with a synthesis remaining absent. We employ a systematic literature review methodology to shed light on the driving antecedents for sustainable IS Use among individual consumers. Our results build on findings of 29 empirical studies drawn from 598 articles retrieved from our premier outlets and a forward/backward search. The analysis reveals six salient complementary antecedents: Relief, Empowerment, Default, User-centricity, Salience, and Encouragement. We recommend considering these concepts when developing, deploying, promoting, or regulating digital technologies to mitigate individual consumers' emissions. Along with memorable and implementable concepts, our theoretical framework offers a novel conceptualization and four promising avenues for researchers on sustainable IS Use. Collapse

Abstract: The paper explores how scholars apply causal modeling to gain an understanding of augmented reality as innovative technology and its potential for application. To do so, we conducted a structured literature review and applied a graph database-driven approach to analyze how scholars research augmented reality. Such an approach enables in-depth analysis of the body of knowledge that is not accessible in traditional ways of exploring literature. The results help to understand where we as a community stand and how directions for future research can help reshape the understanding of augmented reality and its application. Collapse

Abstract: With the explosive growth of mobile phone users, individuals are getting used to using mobile phones to get various services. Mobile government, as one of important channels to provide official government services, has been paid increasingly attention recently. In order to discover the critical influence factors of individual attitude and behavioral intention, a meta-analysis method was used to construct a comprehensive framework for individual mobile government adoption and find out the moderating role of economic development level, based on 38 related empirical research publications. Abstract: The use of mobile payment (m-payment) is growing exponentially in developing countries. A small number of investigations have been undertaken on what makes people continue to use m-payment in an African context. We combine the task technology fit (TTF) model, expectation-confirmation model (ECM), and trust dimension to explain the influence of continuance use of m-payment. We collected 384 valid questionnaire responses from Mozambique. The results show that the relevant constructs to explain continuance intention are use, individual performance, overall trust, and the moderation role of satisfaction. Collapse

Abstract: The use of video consultations to deliver healthcare has increased spectacularly since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, with applications in psychotherapy proving particularly useful. While generally perceived as an adequate substitute for face-to-face interactions, video consultations have proven to aggravate problems related to maintaining strong therapeutic relationships. We build on psychology and IS literature to present an embodied interaction system that can contribute to mitigating the derogatory effects that occur when the potential for nonverbal communication is reduced. Based on an analysis of behavioral intentions, we present initial empirical evidence that potential users are indeed willing to engage with embodied interaction systems in a clinical context. Our results also suggest that potential users expect the adoption of the system to be more arduous relative to traditional interaction systems. We derive implications for research and practice that can be used to improve interaction system designs and quality of care. Collapse

Abstract: Intelligent process automation is a technological innovation that combines symbolic automation tools with machine learning. Intelligent process automation can automate complex tasks that otherwise have to be performed by humans when symbolic automation is not powerful enough. Regardless of the high economic potential for companies, the adoption rate in practice is comparatively low. This could be due to the adoption behavior of the employees. In our work, we iteratively develop a Unified Theory of Acceptance and use of Technology (UTAUT) model for the adoption of intelligent process automation and evaluate it with an empirical study. With our research we want to empower designers to adapt the corresponding tools in the future to increase adoption. The study shows that, in addition to established factors for technology adoption, trust, transparency, and attitude towards technology are primary decision factors. Collapse

Abstract: This study extends the post-acceptance model of information systems (IS) continuance, which is widely used to explain users’ satisfaction and IS continuance intentions. The extended model includes additional variables such as perceived ease of use (PEOU), attitude, trust, and enjoyment. The proposed model was tested using metaanalytic structural equation modeling (MASEM). The analysis included 1,056 observations on fifteen relation ships from 214 independent studies with a combined sample of 84,343. The results confirm the significance of all the relationships proposed in the original model. Furthermore, the findings indicate that PEOU directly in fluences perceived usefulness, satisfaction, and attitude. Trust and enjoyment both have a positive impact on users’ satisfaction and IS continuance, wherein the effect of enjoyment was higher than trust. post-consumption satisfaction resulted in a favorable attitude toward technology, which further affected IS continuance. From a theoretical perspective, the current study acknowledges the shift in users’ attitude toward technology and em phasizes the hedonic value of IS usage as users report a higher degree of satisfaction toward responsive, easy to use, and enjoyable technologies. Marketers should focus on the enjoyment and gratifications derived from technology to increase potential IS usage. Collapse

Abstract: As the use phase of buildings produces a substantial negative environmental impact, mechanisms to guide individuals towards more sustainable energy consumption are of interest. Smart energy apps which constantly monitor energy consumption and provide energy reduction recommendations to private households are a promising tool to tackle this issue. However, as little is known about factors driving their adoption, it remains unclear whether their potential can be leveraged. Against this backdrop, this study derives a technology acceptance model for smart energy apps which builds on a quantitative survey with 300 participants and the partial least squares approach. The results highlight personal innovativeness and environmental norms as additional acceptance factors. Our study points at the importance integrating both individual and technological aspects in technology adoption research, unveils potential levers for IS to drive adoption, and provides guidance to smart energy app designers. Abstract: Personal Intelligent Agents (PIAs), such as Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, are different from traditional information systems. They possess unique design features and are increasingly available through various technological devices. Due to PIAs’ relative novelty, little is known about the determinants of their continued use. An investigation into PIAs’ characteristics and their impact on users’ post-adoption evaluations is expected to have theoretical and practical implications for PIA design and sustained usage. Our research model integrates perceptions of intelligence, anthropomorphism, and self-extension into the unified model of information technology continuance. Our findings show the key role of perceived intelligence of the PIA on continuance intention and indicate that hedonic perceptions of the agent become less important during post-adoption. Our results also highlight the role of perceived ownership and personalisation as antecedents of perceived self-extension. Collapse

Abstract: This work analyzes the attitude formation process of individuals for central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), specifically for the digital euro. CBDCs are heavily researched, with pilot projects being conducted worldwide. Following the emergence of cryptocurrencies and a decrease in cash usage for retail transactions, CBDCs are viewed as the possible payment solution of the future. Using a qualitative approach, we conduct expert and non-expert interviews to apply and extend existing research on attitude formation to study how individuals form attitudes towards a CBDC in Germany. We find that individuals form their attitudes towards a digital euro through the perceived benefits, limitations, and concerns regarding related payment solutions, moderated through the perceived equivalence of these related technologies and the CBDC. The results contribute to the literature on CBDC and can be used by practitioners to develop a digital euro that offers a competitive advantage for retail transactions over established payment solutions.
