Abstract: The present study examines virtual try-on technology (VTO), return policies, pay-on-delivery (POD) mode of payment, vendor-specific guarantees, and free shipping policy of online retailers as antecedents of trust. The study also examines the role of perceived effectiveness of e-commerce institutional mechanisms (PEEIM) as a moderator between repurchase intention and trust. Data were collected through an online survey. The link to the questionnaire for the online survey was shared on different social media platforms and social networking sites. A total of 614 responses were considered for the study. Results revealed that return policies, POD mode of payment, free shipping policy, and VTO technology emerged significant predictors of trust. Surprisingly, vendor-specific guarantee had a negative relationship with trust. Trust, in turn, influenced repurchase intention. Considering the trust and survey responses, the results confirmed that PEEIM negatively moderates the relationship between trust and repurchase intention. This study contributes to the literature by empirically validating the impact of return policies, VTO technology, POD mode of payment, free shipping policies, and vendor-specific guarantees on trust. Most of these constructs have been analyzed as solitary constructs. In this study, the impact of these constructs is measured collectively, thereby indicating their importance as compared with other policies implemented by an online retailer. Abstract: Team members’ knowledge diversity has a “double-edged sword” nature within cross-functional project teams (CFPTs), showing an inconsistent relationship with team performance. For realizing this diversity’s potential benefits, leadership is usually an essential enabler. However, little is known about how knowledge leadership achieves this. This study proposed that knowledge leadership moderates the effect of knowledge diversity on team performance through a transactive memory system (TMS). By empirically testing survey data from 96 CFPTs, we found that knowledge leadership enables a positive linkage of knowledge diversity-CFPT performance by successively breaking down barriers to communication and cooperation in TMS development and functioning. Abstract: Large-scale contractual systems engineering projects often need to comply with myriad government regulations and standards as part of contractual obligations. A key activity in the requirements engineering (RE) process for such a project is to demonstrate that all relevant requirements have been elicited from the regulatory documents and have been traced to the contract as well as to the target system components. That is, the requirements have met regulatory compliance. However, there are impediments to achieving this level of compliance due to such complexity factors as voluminous contract, large number of regulatory documents, and multiple domains of the system. Little empirical research has been conducted in the scientific community on identifying these impediments. Knowing these impediments is a driver for change in the solutions domain (i.e., creating improved or new methods, tools, processes, etc.) to deal with such impediments. Through a case study of an industrial RE project, we have identified a number of key impediments to achieving regulatory compliance in a large-scale, complex, systems engineering project. This project is an upgrade of a rail infrastructure system. The key contribution of the article is a number of hitherto uncovered impediments described in qualitative and quantitative terms. The article also describes an artefact model, depicting key artefacts and relationships involved in such a compliance project. This model was created from data gathered and observations made in this compliance project. In addition, the article describes emergent metrics on regulatory compliance of requirements that can possibly be used for estimating the effort needed to achieve regulatory compliance of system requirements. Abstract: It has long been a challenge for online game providers that, after playing a game for a certain period of time, online game players frequently switch to alternative games without much hesitation. Current IS continuance theories, that are mainly developed to interpret user continuance of general utilitarian IS, are ineffective to interpret user continuance of hedonic IS. In this study, based on the uses and gratifications theory, a hedonic IS continuance model is developed by incorporating three sorts of gratifications, namely hedonic gratification (enjoyment, fantasy and escapism), social gratification (social interaction and social presence) and utilitarian gratification (achievement and self-presentation). Age and gender are the moderating factors in the model. Based on 3919 validated respondents, the research model is assessed while a number of interesting findings are reported. Collapse

Abstract: In this paper we analyze the effect of information technologies (IT) on the environmental performance of firms. In particular, we study the moderating effect of IT on the relationship between a firm’s environmental practices and its environmental performance. The paper considers two moderating effects –namely, IT-enabled coordination and IT-enabled control. IT-enabled coordination refers to the integration of processes and the sharing of information between a firm and its suppliers in design and manufacturing. IT-enabled control refers to the use of IT to monitor the environmental practices that a firm implements in production and logistics. The data used were obtained from the fifth (2009) round of the International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS) which includes responses from manufacturing plants within the assembly industry. Our findings suggest that IT-enabled coordination strengthens the impact of the implementation of environmental practices on the environmental performance of firms. A relevant contribution for practice is derived from this study: firms can use the same technologies (ERP, shared databases) that they once implemented to improve their operational performance to improve the environmental performance.
