Abstract: Design Science Research (DSR) projects are diverse along various dimensions (e.g., methodological reference approach, level of contribution, type of evaluation) and they produce a vast amount of information. This poses problems especially for less experienced design researchers who wish to write and publish DSR articles. Since DSR projects hardly fit the established structure of mainstream research articles in Information Systems, it is not entirely clear which aspects of the research project should be communicated and how to compile them. Existing guidance for a specific DSR article structure (Gregor and Hevner, 2013) is generic and has not been adapted yet to different types of DSR research projects. The purpose of the study at hand is to design a guide for design researchers that accommodates the diversity among DSR projects and clarifies what should be reported in which sequence. The concept of design patterns and various descriptive studies were used to design and evaluate the proposed guidance artefact. situation is problematic, as the contributions of DSR to the field of IS should advance the field and provide new opportunities for both design-oriented and behavioral research. However, due to a comparably small share of publications in high-impact outlets, the impact of DSR on IS research is lower than one would expect (vom Brocke et al., 2020;Gregor and Hevner, 2013).Having recognized the communication of DSR projects as a problem, various IS researchers have dedicated time and effort to develop support (e.g., vom Brocke and Maedche, 2019;Peffers et al., 2007;Avdiji and Winter, 2019;Cahenzli, 2022b;Cahenzli et al., 2021;Gregor et al., 2020;Gregor and Jones, 2007). To the best of our knowledge, the only publication focusing on the communication task of writing DSR articles is the MIS Quarterly article by Gregor and Hevner (2013), that proposes a reference structure for all types of DSR articles. This generic communication guidance has, however, not proven effective enough for design researchers, as the underlying problem appears to persist (Tremblay et al., 2018). The authors of the article at hand, design researchers themselves, perceive that the persistence of the "DSR writeup problem" is at least partially due to the diversity among DSR studies. Hence, a general reference structure may be either too restrictive for providing applicable support for the entire range of DSR projects, or too generic to be applicable to specific studies. Thus, this existing solution needs to be revisited.Our research objective is therefore to provide innovative support for design researchers in writing DSR articles. This support should both accommodate project diversity and be appropriate for writing articles for top-tier IS outlets. Aiming at providing a solution for a class of problems (i.e., a purposefully designed artifact), we apply the DSR methodology in our study. To ensure the validity of the proposed solution, the multi-grounded approach to DSR by Goldkuhl (2004) is applied. This means that artifact proposals should be grounded in theory, internally, and empirically. Consequently, several studies were conducted to ensure appropriate grounding of the artifact, including interviews, document analyses, and a survey.The article at hand reports these studies by presenting the background knowledge (including original research that provides the basis for the artifact design's theoretical grounding), the design approach, the proposed artifact, and its evaluation (internal and empirical grounding). 2 Background KnowledgeThis section provides an overview of the problem space (Maedche et al., 2019) and the current solution knowledge. Abstract: When unexpected events occur, IT project teams need to react appropriately in order to limit the potentially negative, and sometimes disastrous consequences of such events. Yet, while past research has identified unexpected events as being an important aspect to consider when managing projects, the existing literature does not provide a clear conceptualization of this concept which limits the development of new theories and thus the ability to guide practitioners. Based on a literature review and to advance our understanding of unexpected events in IT projects and their effective management, and facilitate future theoretical developments on IT project management, the present paper develops a conceptualization that clearly distinguishes this concept from other closely related ones, as well as proposing a research framework that links it to IT project team responses and their consequences. Abstract: As Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming more prevalent in everyday work settings, the Information Systems (IS) discipline is perfectly poised to study the sociotechnical repercussions of AI supported decision-making part of expert's knowledge work. As expert know-how is tacit and socially situated, there are difficulties in capturing the nuances of the emerging human-machine collaborations. In this article, we review how epistemic uncertainty is evident in experts' decision-making practices when using AI tools. Building on rich primary studies, a qualitative evidence synthesis (QES) approach was used to synthesize relevant literature on this topic. Our findings unravel sources of expert uncertainty which point to strategies experts use to cope with uncertainty, and what attitudes experts have towards uncertainty when making complex decisions with AI-tools. Abstract: Being part of a digital societies requires a "digital mindset". But what exactly is a digital mindset? There are many answers that have not really been systematized. A related area where systematization already started is Computational Thinking (CT): a branch of pedagogy that catalogued the capabilities necessary to live in a digitized and technology-driven world. CT is defined as a general problem-solving competence based on abstraction, algorithmic-thinking, problem-decomposition, pattern-recognition, and evaluation. Researchers promote CT as a 21 st century skills important for everyone. Aim of our article is to reveal the relevance of CT as complement to IS-research in the creation of a digital mindset. We conducted a computational and qualitative literature review using quantitative bibliometric-citation analysis. From the analysis, we derive an integrative framework to identify how IS-research could profit from teaching, and applying CT, as a competence in the digital transformation of their discipline. Abstract: Scientific networks are often investigated by means of citation analyses. Yet, interpretation of such networks in terms of semantic (and often disciplinary) content heavily depends on supplementary knowledge, notably about author research specialties. Similar situations arise more generally in many types of social networks whose semantic interpretation relies on supplementary information. Here, author community networks are inferred from a topic model which provides direct insights into the semantic specificities of the identified "hidden communities of interest" (HCoI). Using a philosophy of science corpus of full-text articles (N=16,917), we investigate its underlying communities by measuring topic profile correlations between authors. A diachronic perspective is built by modeling the research networks over different time-periods and mapping genealogical relationships between communities. The results show a marked increase in philosophy of science communities over time and trace the progressive appearance of the specialization areas that structure the field today. Collapse

Abstract: Video conferencing systems are widely used in times of distributed teams since they support flexible work arrangements. However, they have negative impacts on users, such as lacking eye gaze or zoom fatigue. Adaptive interventions in video conferences based on user behavior provide interesting solutions to overcome these challenges, for example, by alerting users when looking tired. Specifically, biosignals measured by sensors like microphones or eye-trackers are a promising basis for adaptive interventions. To provide an overview of current biosignal-based user-adaptive video conferencing systems, we conducted a systematic literature review and identified 24 publications. We summarize existing knowledge in a morphological box and outline further research directions. Thereby, a focus on biooptical signals is visible. Current adaptations target audience feedback, expression understanding and eye gaze mostly by image and representation modifications. In future, we recommend including further biosignals and addressing more diverse problems by investigating adaptation capabilities of further software elements. Collapse

Abstract: Immersive virtual reality (VR) that utilizes head-mounted displays (HMD) is one of the key emerging technologies of the 21st century and has drawn keen attention from consumers, prac­ titioners, and scholars in various disciplines. Nevertheless, the information systems (IS) discipline has neglected immersive VR, given that only a handful of studies have been published in main­ stream IS journals. However, the recent advancements in immersive VR technology provide new opportunities for organizations and IS researchers. In light of these points, we reviewed the immersive VR literature to provide a holistic view of opportunities and challenges for organi­ zations and future research directions for the IS field. By examining the technical capabilities of immersive VR and the previous literature, we identified five affordances: embodiment, interactivity, navigability, sense-ability, and create-ability. Our review of the 151 studies from the IS and related fields synthesized how these affordances were utilized in various research domains. Guided by the affordance-actualization theory, we also identified the strategic opportunities and challenges that come with implementing VR. The actualization of immersive VR affordances in organizations is indeed a fruitful area for IS scholars as there are various venues to move the IS field as well as the VR research in the organizational context forward. Abstract: Rich research opportunities lie ahead for scholars interested in building a theory to explain why and how some organizations succeed while others fail in implementing disruptive technologies. As a complex socio-technical process, implementing disruptive technologies represents an endeavor fraught with challenges. Leaders need tools to assess whether implementing a potentially disruptive technology will succeed or fail; planners need a road map to navigate the implementation’s potential stepping-stones and stumbling blocks. Disruptive technology implementation scholarship is rich, has eclectic roots and conflicting findings, but lacks a success theory. To advance such a theory and guide scholars and practitioners, we conducted a structured and systematic literature review, and examined 139 empirical articles published between 1983 and 2020 in leading management and information systems journals. We focused our attention on answering two questions: How do incumbent organizations implement disruptive technologies successfully? How does the implementation of disruptive digital technologies differ from the implementation of other disruptive technologies? We employed a mixed-method approach using three criteria: technological category, challenges to successful implementation, and degree of implementation success. We identified strategic and technical implementation challenges, developed a technology implementation framework, and advanced propositions that together provide a current disruptive technology implementation success theory pending further testing. Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the long-standing problem that many students struggle to regulate their motivation in digital learning settings. There is a demand for a framework that provides concrete and tangible strategies on how to foster students' individual motivation. One framework that addresses these demands is the Hexad framework (Marczewski 2013). It defines six user types and corresponding motivational preferences. Research reports positive effects on motivation when considering the framework in information systems. This study initially investigates its context shift towards digital learning. By analyzing the fit of students' motivational preferences of their identified user types and their motivational preferences as learners, a high identification rate appears. However, while Hexad user types are clearly separable, the analysis identified an underlying group-and task-orientation among all students. Overall, the findings suggest that the Hexad framework can function as a guidance for students when selecting effective strategies to promote self-regulated motivation. Collapse
