Abstract: An online social network is a key platform through which innovation diffuses. To learn about innovativeness, we simultaneously investigate two Twitter networks, the relationships network, following-follower relationships, and the activity network, the flow of tweets. Specifically, the innovativeness relations to the networks' indegree and outdegree, the volume of platform use, and the profile's age. The more active and central the user, the earlier the adoption. Innovativeness increases with the number of followers only when at least several of them adopt the innovation. Surprisingly, having more followees is linked to later engagement with the innovation. This association is mediated by the number of adopters' followees. Those who created a Twitter profile later are also more likely to adopt innovations later. This study is novel in distinguishing between the two networks and analyzing their interactions. Its contribution lies in identifying the innovativeness of users in an online social network platform diffusion. Collapse

Abstract: Organizational information security performance is inextricably tied to the security behavior of employees. While employee behavior has long been considered a challenge to information security, recent shifts to a more remote work force have amplified organizational focus on employees to protect information assets. Under these conditions, InfoSec Extra Role Behaviors (ERBs) have become increasingly important to mitigating security threats. The literature suggests that mindfulness is an important human factor that may lead to InfoSec ERBs. We examine mindfulness through the lens of trait activation theory. Trait activation theory (TAT) explicitly ties individual traits to situational features of the environment to predict trait related behavior. In TAT, a relevant feature of the organizational environment is situation strength which constrains behavioral variance through trait expression. Thus, we operationalize sanctions as a measure for situation strength in the InfoSec context and propose a model that examines the interplay between a relevant human factor, mindfulness, and a common organizational intervention, sanctions, and the impact that interplay has on InfoSec ERB enactment. Abstract: This study investigates the effect of individuals' information processing modes on phishing email detection mechanisms and accuracy. Drawing on the heuristic-systematic model of processing, mindful decision-making, and affect-and-persuasion literature, this study examines the antecedents (i.e., heuristic, systematic processing, general and domain mindfulness, and affective state) and behavioral consequences (i.e., detection accuracy) in phishing identification. Using a scenario-based survey experiment this study shows mindfulness and affectivity navigate information processing mechanisms, thus influence phishing detection accuracy. It aims to contribute to information security literature by examining novel associations between general, domain mindfulness and its effect on online users' information processing strategy and phishing detection accuracy. Furthermore, this study contributes to phishing training and awareness by identifying the function of cognitive-affective (affective states, trait mindfulness) and cognitive-behavioral (domain mindfulness) factors on the choice of information processing modes and phishing detection accuracy. Abstract: Cyberloafing is a prevalent phenomenon in organisations that may cause serious problems. In previous studies, cyberloafing has been studied as planned and intentional behaviour. Interestingly, we have observed that cyberloafing frequently happens when employees use smartphones to assist with work tasks, but they may not necessarily intend to engage in this activity. We distinguish between active and passive cyberloafing and focus on studying the latter. Based on dual-systems theory, we introduce the construct of mindfulness in the exploration of the antecedences and internal mechanism of passive cyberloafing. We conducted a research survey with employees who use smartphones to assist with work tasks and collected 474 valid questionnaires to examine our research model. The results showed that dual systems are associated with cyberloafing by influencing mind-wandering, and mindfulness significantly decreased mind-wandering when using a smartphone. This study analyses cyberloafing from an innovative neuroscience perspective and contributes to the literature by proposing a new classification of cyberloafing behaviour, reveals the internal mechanism of how dual systems impact an individual’s behaviour, and introduces mindfulness as an antecedent factor of dual systems. Abstract: When unexpected events occur, IT project teams need to react appropriately in order to limit the potentially negative, and sometimes disastrous consequences of such events. Yet, while past research has identified unexpected events as being an important aspect to consider when managing projects, the existing literature does not provide a clear conceptualization of this concept which limits the development of new theories and thus the ability to guide practitioners. Based on a literature review and to advance our understanding of unexpected events in IT projects and their effective management, and facilitate future theoretical developments on IT project management, the present paper develops a conceptualization that clearly distinguishes this concept from other closely related ones, as well as proposing a research framework that links it to IT project team responses and their consequences. Abstract: To improve organisational safety and enhance security efficiency, organisations seek to establish a culture of security that provides a foundation for how employees should approach security. There are several frameworks and models that provide a set of requirements for forming security cultures; however, for many organisations, the requirements of the frameworks are difficult to meet, if not impossible. In this research, we take a different perspective and focus on the core underlying competencies that high-reliability organisations (HROs) have shown to be effective in achieving levels of risk tolerance consistent with the goals of a security culture. In doing so we draw on high-reliability theory to develop a Security Culture Model that explains how a firm's supportive and practical competencies form its organisational security culture. To refine and test the model, we conducted a developmental mixed-method study using interviews and survey data with professional managers involved in the information security (InfoSec) programs within their respective HROs. Our findings emphasise the importance of an organisation's supportive and practical competencies for developing a culture of security. Our results suggest that organisations' security cultures are a product of their InfoSec practices and that organisational mindfulness, top management involvement and organisational structure are key to the development of those practices. Abstract: IT identity plays a significant role in individuals' IT adoption and use behaviors and can impact job satisfaction. However, other individual traits, like the digital mindset, previously showed to also affect the effects of the intertwining of IT and workplaces on job satisfaction. Therefore, we examine the role of a digital mindset in shaping IT and job identity and survey 167 employees. By analyzing the relationship between these concepts, the paper contributes to a better understanding of how identities are formed and how they affect job satisfaction in the digitally-enabled workplace. Our results demonstrate that IT identity's effect on job satisfaction is fully mediated by job identity. We also reveal that a digital mindset moderates the relationship between IT and job identities. Further, we discuss the key challenges and opportunities associated with the adoption and use of IS in organizations and provide insights into the future directions of IS research. Overall, we contribute to the ongoing discourse on the role of IT identity and digital mindset in the workplace and provide valuable insights for researchers and practitioners. Collapse

Abstract: Mindfulness practices are valuable exercises for physical and mental health. Various digital applications exist that support individuals in practicing mindfulness. Following the trend of gamifying utilitarian systems, many mindfulness applications (MAs) incorporate game design elements (GDEs). However, little is known about users' GDE preferences in this unique context. In line with extant research that investigated users' GDE preferences in other contexts, we conducted an online survey among 168 potential users of MAs. The results indicate that users generally prefer progress, levels, and goals in MAs, while leaderboards and avatars are not highly rated. Furthermore, we identified four contextindependent and three context-dependent rationales that help explain users' GDE preferences. By providing first insights into MAs as a peculiar application context for gamification, our work contributes to advancing knowledge of contextual differences in users' GDE preferences while challenging the extant research assumptions regarding the dominance of contextual factors in forming user preferences. Abstract: This study focuses on collaboration among team members in educational escape rooms in higher education. The objective of this study was to understand how collective mindfulness and less mindful behavior unfold in physical and digital game-based learning. The video data were collected from three different courses comprising 107 students on 28 teams, totaling more than 16 hours of material. The qualitative analysis revealed both collectively mindful and less mindful behaviors in team interactions. This paper contributes to collective mindfulness literature in understanding team collaboration by observing that mindfulness may be relative depending on the observation perspective. It also presents factors that affect member equality in both digital and physical escape rooms. Lastly, a nuanced description of how team collaboration occurred in a short-term problem-solving situation is developed. Collapse
