Abstract: With the development of mobile communication technologies, people can now engage in seamless communications with family members and coworkers at both home and work. When promoting a new mobile communication technology (e.g., the 5G network), firms may be tempted to emphasize how the technology can strengthen communication both within and across the two domains with the hope of improving purchase rates. Yet research has suggested that people may perceive mobile communication differently depending on whether those they are communicating with others who belong to the same domain. Thus, the promotion of the technology to potential users should perhaps consider users' location domain and their communication targets. Through a field experiment, we show that when promoting mobile communication technology in the home domain, highlighting prevention-focused communication promotes greater purchase rates. However, at work, when coworkers are the target of communication, highlighting promotion-focused communication works better. These findings can not only help practitioners design more effective promotional messages in promoting mobile communication technologies but also contribute to the understanding of nuanced differences in the nature of mobile communication that make it more appealing to users in different within-and cross-domain communication scenarios. Abstract: Despite significant business opportunities made possible through advancements in technology, readily available digital technologies are often overlooked and not used by new ventures. To address this knowledge gap, this paper looks at the relationships between readily available digital technologies and born-digital new venture capabilities. We use an affordance lens to explore conditions in which born-digital new ventures interact with digital technologies to actualize digital affordances that facilitate the development of important capabilities. First, using the existing literature, we present a research model and its key elements. Then, using data on new ventures in a Canadian university incubator, we conduct fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) and develop seven configurational research propositions as pathways to develop information technology-enabled organizational capabilities in new ventures. Using this retroductive approach, this research builds a contextspecific middle-range theory that explains complex interactions between readily available digital technologies and new venture characteristics, where resources are provided by incubators in dynamic environments, to facilitate the development of ITOCs in the new ventures. Abstract: Agriculture is one of these sectors where Internet of Things (IoT) is expected to make a major impact. Yet, its adoption in the sector falls behind the expectations. This paper presents an extensive review of 1355 publications over the last decade, with an aim to highlight the state-of-the-art of research on IoT in agriculture and investigate its slow adoption. The literature review reveals that the "big three" barriers for the overall sector are cost, skills, and standardization, while the lack of connectivity and data governance are two key reasons why most of the proposed IoT solutions are standalone systems of limited scope and the majority of commercial IoT efforts focuses on practices under protected indoor environment. Lastly, the analysis of past research along the five layers of IoT system architecture reveals limited attention on barriers and solutions at the business layer, which represents a research opportunity for information systems scholars. Abstract: Virtual work has increasingly gained global popularity in the business community, with virtuality becoming integrated into traditional office work settings. As the essence of virtuality comprises geographic dispersion and information systems (IS) use, the implementation of a wide variety of novel and advanced information technologies (IT)/IS as productivity and communication tools have fueled the trend in which virtual work permeates the modern workplace. Despite the heavy use of advanced IT/IS as an integral part of virtual work, our understanding on identifying the work dynamics between IS-related antecedents and employee work outcomes in virtual work contexts is still limited. Drawing on efficacy theory, this study focuses on two important IS-related antecedents within virtual work contexts—IS support for creativity and effective IS use—and their effects on job satisfaction. Specifically, we examine the mediating effect of effective IS use on the relationship between IS support for creativity and job satisfaction above and beyond the perceived usefulness and IS satisfaction, which have previously been recognized as impactful antecedents for IS-related effectiveness. To test the posited hypotheses, data were collected (N = 504) from an online survey platform. Using multiple mediation analyses, the study results confirm our hypotheses that (1) IS support for creativity is positively related to job satisfaction in virtual work settings; and (2) effective IS use mediates the relationship between IS support for creativity and job satisfaction even after controlling for perceived usefulness and IS satisfaction, which indicates the unique explanatory power of effective IS use for increased job satisfaction in virtual work settings. Abstract: Technology trend analysis uses data relevant to historical performance and extrapolates it to estimate and assess the future potential of technology. Such analysis is used to analyze emerging technologies or predict the growing markets that influence the resulting social or economic development to assist in effective decision-making. Traditional trend analysis methods are time-consuming and require considerable labor. Moreover, the implemented processes may largely rely on the specific knowledge of the domain experts. With the advancement in the areas of science and technology, emerging cross-domain trends have received growing attention for its considerable influence on society and the economy. Consequently, emerging cross-domain predictions that combine or complement various technologies or integrate with diverse disciplines may be more critical than other tools and applications in the same domain. This study uses a design science research methodology, a text mining technique, and social network analysis (SNA) to analyze the development trends concerning the presentation of the product or service information on a company's website. This study applies regulatory technology (RegTech) as a case to analyze and justify the emerging cross-disciplinary trend. Furthermore, an experimental study is conducted using the Google search engine to verify and validate the proposed research mechanism at the end of this study. The study results reveal that, compared with Google Trends and Google Correlate, the research mechanism proposed in this study is more illustrative, feasible, and promising because it reduces noise and avoids the additional time and effort required to perform a further in-depth exploration to obtain the information. Abstract: The goal of the paper is to expose the pillars of urban digital infrastructure and their role in the development of smart and data driven applications in the e2e model. Today, no one contests the need for a general-purpose infrastructure in the city that improves the quality of life with respect to various types of socioeconomic activity of residents. However, the digital aspect of fostering this kind of activity is linked to a very dynamic and ubiquitous element of technology, and the quality and stability of solutions based on advanced technology is a key parameter of the quality of life and development that a city should provide to its residents. This pace of technology development means that our environment (including cities) are subject to a process of continuous digital transformation. Starting from examples of such transformation and top-trends in technology development, we focus on transformation pillars that can ensure sustainable growth of innovation supply in a city. We give three examples of platforms designed for City of Poznan. We conclude that a key factor benefiting this multidimensional transformation process is the provision of an open, data-transmission and processing infrastructure with the support of which all smart city stakeholders can pursue their social, scientific, economic, or political goals in a sustainable manner. Abstract: Quality management (QM) and efficient information sharing among value chain partners have been important IS research topics for decades. Today, IS researchers and practitioners hope to overcome various information inefficiencies in complex supply chains using blockchain approaches. Additionally, future traceability regulations increase companies' interest in innovative blockchain-based enterprise solutions. We identified several factors that could hinder BC adoption, due to a lack of standards. This paper sheds profound light on organizational and technical aspects of blockchain enterprise applications to support future collaboration initiatives. Furthermore, it develops a terminology that researchers and practitioners can reuse. A case study describes several quality-related objects and events that characterize multiple dimensions and traceability types. Based on these findings, we provide a set of design principles to assist future design features. Finally, this paper provides a holistic orientation and implications for researchers and practitioners moving forwards. RQ1: How can blockchain technology tackle QM data transparency concerns and create trusted industrial traceability solutions?RQ2: Which design principles enable blockchain adoption to address standardization challenges in supplychain collaborations?We begin with an overview of relevant theoretical and practical work to answer these research questions. We then define the methodology we follow within this paper. Subsequently, we dive into QM standards, the integration of BC production environments, and three QM case studies as a foundation for our work. Afterward, we derive meta-requirements and transform them into prescriptive and abstract principles for designing future QM IS artefacts. This is followed by a glimpse into a severe QM transparency dilemma that we identified. We conclude by considering current limitations and future research directions. Related Work and FindingsThis paper focuses on necessary objects influencing design decisions and the quality of secure collaboration in supply networks. We start with an overview of theoretical and practical perspectives, addressing the problematic in the best interest of researchers and practitioners. We begin with supply chain traceability obstacles on the organizational level before zeroing in to a more detailed, object-based level and the solution space required by the methodology followed in this work (Möller et al. 2020; Vom Brocke et al. 2020.Obstacles to blockchain adoption in supply chain management. Abstract: Our knowledge on differences in business model characteristics of thriving and failing Multi-Sided Platforms in competitive B2B networks (B2B-MSP) and potential influences of increasing governmental involvement remains fragmented. This study develops a taxonomy to classify special B2B-MSP with varying governmental influence in the supply chain and transportation context, viz. Port and Cargo Community Systems (CS). Based on the classification of 44 international CS, we identify four archetypes using cluster analysis. The taxonomy provides practitioners with a differentiated view on the configuration options of CS business models including the involvement of governmental institutions, while the presented archetypes contribute an aggregated view of CS business models. The statistical analysis of our results provides initial explanatory approaches on CS business model dimension interdependencies, thereby laying the basis for a deeper understanding of sectoral and geographic differences of B2B-MSP and their diffusion dynamics as well as facilitating a higher contextualization of future research.
