Abstract: This paper investigates how Critical Success Factors (CSFs) can be used to determine appropriate measurement items for design and assessment of ERP Maturity Models (ERPMMs). Our systematic literature review answers: RQ1 What are the primary dimensions of CSFs that can be used as measurement items for ERP maturity models? and RQ2 What are the additional dimensions of CSFs that can be used to evaluate the maturity of organisations using new generation ERP systems? Results reveal most ERPMMs can be categorised into specific CSF dimensions, and different sets of measurement items can be derived from these dimensions. The main contribution of this research is a CSF classification framework with eight dimensions: Governance, Culture, Technology, Operation, People, Project, Performance, and Products & Services. Our CSF classification framework will help researchers and practitioners to select a set of suitable CSF measurement items to assess maturity levels of organisations using new generation ERP systems. Abstract: Industry 4.0 application scenarios, based on the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in combination with wearable devices like Smart Glasses or Head-Mounted Displays (HMD), offer construction companies several opportunities to better deal with the complexity of the construction environment. Despite the given maturity of AR technology, tools or methods to estimate the costs and benefits associated with its adoption have not been provided to date. In general, high implementation costs and unclear benefits of this technology are considered as barriers to its widespread adoption. Therefore, the primary aim of this paper is to develop an assessment framework for evaluating costs and benefits of information systems (IS) investments based on an AR-based application scenario in the construction domain. By the same token, we intend to demonstrate how a traditional cost-benefit analysis (CBA) can be applied more effectively to assist in the decision-making process. The assessment framework is developed by means of a systematic literature review and evaluated by means of expert interviews as well as a simulation using the appraisal method Visualisation of Financial Implications (VoFI). Abstract: We used a multiple-case design to study materials requirements planning (MRP) implementation outcome in 10 manufacturing companies in Singapore. Using a two-phased data collection approach (pre-interview questionnaires and personal interviews), we sought to develop a comprehensive and operationally acceptable measure of MRP success. Our measure consists of two linked components. They are a satisfaction score (a quantitative measure) and a complementary measure based on comments from the interviewees regarding the level of usage and acceptance of the system. We also extended and consolidated a seven-factor critical success factor (CSF) framework using this methodology. CSFs are important, but knowing the linkages between them is even more important, because these linkages tell us which CSFs to emphasize at various stages of the project. Collapse

Abstract: In the field of manufacturing, there is a need to develop large-scale manufacturing information systems. This is especially true in the Japanese steel manufacturing industry where CIM is the core management technology. But developing such systems requires large amounts of time and manpower, and furthermore, these type of projects are very difficult to manage. Therefore, in order to ease the process of analysis and design, we propose procedures based on a two-dimensional template with specific criteria for large-scale manufacturing IS architectures. In each manufacturing system, there are two important elements that correspond to the two dimensions of the template. One is a functional category and the other is a management structure. We show here the effectiveness of applying this method to system planning of large-scale IS in one representative steel manufacturing plant. Collapse

Abstract: It is generally acknowledged that Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) could revolutionize manufacturing operations. Making use of data from a recent survey of MRP practices in Singapore conducted jointly by the National Computer Board (NCB) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), this paper provides a profile of manufacturing companies in Singapore that both have and have not implemented MRP. The Critical Success Factors involved in implementing MRP are identified and the theoretical justification behind each factor examined. Finally, the ways in which the Singapore Government can help local companies implement, operate, and maintain MRP systems are discussed. It is an expensive investment, and difficult to implement, due to its complexity. It is hoped that knowledge and understanding of these factors will assist firms in successfully implementing MRP and enable them to further improve their systems in order to maximize returns.
