Abstract: To combat the trend of failing Digital Transformation endeavors, dedicated leadership skills are needed. However, so far there is little knowledge about the skills for successfully leading Digital Innovation Units (DIUs). We, therefore, interviewed 13 DIU leaders from various industries and elicited their skills with the Repertory Grid method. We identified 54 key skills clustered in seven categories: team development, integration of the DIU into the wider context of the organization, innovation management, personal traits, effective communication, hard skills, and visionary thinking and driving change. Furthermore, we found five influencing factors for the application of key skills: Financial support, uncertainty, certainty in tasks, stability of the product, freedom to operate, and degree of collaboration with the core organization. Finally, we report on three skill enhancers (actions, attitudes, conditions) for practitioners. We complement prior research by improving the understanding of the ideal DIU leader skill profile. Abstract: Although online learning is back into the spotlight during the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting positive online learning experience still encounters considerable challenges, such as the rapid development of technology, growing expectations of students, and an increasingly uncertain world. Guided by the community of inquiry (CoI) framework and means-end chain (MEC) theory and repertory grid interview (RGT), this study develops a hierarchical framework of student positive online learning experience. The findings not only confirm that the CoI is integral in promoting a positive online learning experience but also extend CoI in two ways, (1) we include technological attributes as pre-conditions (How) and (2) we incorporate students' value fulfilment as the consequence of CoI (Why). In addition, this study found that positive online learning experiences can be achieved via not only a CoI-oriented pedagogical approach but also a student's personal skill development path, further expanding the CoI framework to include the people component. Abstract: Gamified activity trackers are being used by millions of people to assist in changing their daily habits, increasing levels of physical activity and improving overall health and wellbeing. For such goals to be achieved, individuals need to sustain these new habits over time. While existing research has demonstrated that these devices can be effective in changing behaviour in the short term, little is known about their ability to aid in transitioning behavioural change into ongoing habit. This research-inprogress study is exploratory and studies how the use of gamified activity trackers may help in creating sustainable behavioural changes associated with physical activity. Employing the repertory grid technique, we interviewed 15 activity tracker users to explore the barriers to sustained exercise habits as well as the capability of activity trackers to produce long-term sustainable behavioural changes. The preliminary findings revealed gamified activity trackers were effective in temporarily increasing exercise behaviour, however they failed to address key habit-forming requirements (that of association development and context stability). Abstract: Open government data (OGD) initiatives have become an important part of digital transformation strategies and a means for supporting digital entrepreneurship. However, several studies have shown that OGD is experiencing major barriers or even a standstill in certain countries. Little is known about what public managers think of OGD and what uses they ascribe to it. Accordingly, our paper tries to shed some light on the cognitive structures of public managers. Using the RepGrid technique as empirical method and affordance theory as theoretical grounding, our study explores how public managers working in different branches and levels of government interpret and make sense of OGD. Our findings allow for a better understanding of how managers comprehend OGD as concept and to what extent they share the same vision regarding how to re-use OGD in different application domains. Abstract: Organizational stakeholders, such as employees and security managers, may understand security rules and policies differently. Extant literature suggests that stakeholder perceptions of security policies can contribute to the success or failure of policies. This paper draws on the Theory of Personal Constructs and the associated methodology, the Repertory Grid technique, to capture the convergence and divergence of stakeholder perceptions with regards to security policy. We collected data from the employees of an e-commerce company that had developed five information security sub-policies. Our study highlights the practical utility of the Repertory Grid analysis in helping information security researchers and managers pinpoint a) the aspects of a security policy that are well-received by stakeholders, as well as those that are not, and b) the variance in the perceptions of stakeholders. Organizations can, then, capitalize on the well-received aspects of the policy and take corrective action for the ill-received ones. Collapse

Abstract: Organisations increasingly use websites to promote prosocial behaviour such as volunteering, philanthropy, and activism. However, these websites often fail to encourage prosocial behaviours effectively. To address the lack of relevant research, we develop, then refine, a design model that identifies the user experience factors that create intention to engage in prosocial behaviour on websites. We test an initial model developed from the literature, by interviewing forty participants, each of whom visited and compared six volunteering websites. Our analysis of the participants' user experience reveals eighteen elements that interplay to create intention to engage in prosocial behaviour. Our refined design model comprises ten website features (interaction, factual, anecdata, external recognition, organisational expression, value suggestion, explanatory content, visual media, written media and, website design), seven perceptions (ease of use, aesthetics, information quality, trust, negative affect, positive affect, and argument strength), and one motivation (egoism). These findings provide novel insights into how to design Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to encourage prosocial behaviour. Collapse

Abstract: In general, works on information system (IS) project success focus on either project success factors or project success criteria, neglecting the relationships (mechanisms) between these concepts. Accordingly, it is mainly unclear how success factors actually contribute to success criteria. We attempt to illuminate this black box by conducting semi-structured qualitative interviews with experienced IS project managers by applying Repertory Grid and Laddering. Our exploratory study yields numerous success mechanisms, revealing project-related motivation to be the central hub in the factors-criteria network. Abstract: Digital services continually evolve to support a growing diversity of users with an ever varying internet-enabled device numbers. The diversity and ambition of digital services is motivated in part by new technology, channels and users within internet enabled smart environments. To address this growing fluidity a co-design approach has been developed that focuses on Government to Citizens (G2C) e-services. Codesign tools and methods are able to maximize opportunities for communicating and collaborating with varied and diverse user groups. A novel G2C eService co-design framework is constructed with mechanics for understanding the stakeholder requirements and providing them with an active role throughout the design process. This paper presents a co-design approach with tools and methods that supports wider user participation. The repertory grid technique is used to uncover design process constructs from a diverse group of stakeholder– service users, intermediaries (service interface) and service providers. These constructs are then used to extend the Double Diamond framework before operationalization using Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN). The conclusions and contributions drawn from this research paper are expected to benefit researchers, by providing user centricity to eGovernment service design process, and practitioners, with a systematic framework for supporting the collaboration among stakeholders better design of G2C e-services. Abstract: This paper identifies skill sets that contribute to effective InfoSec incident response. Even though many organizations have staff dedicated to InfoSec incident response teams, there is a lack of consensus as to the skill set each team member needs to effectively perform his/her job, and general and specialized skills that need to be represented in incident response teams (but usually not all held by each team member). Previous guidance was offered based on non-empirical methods. In this study, we used the Repertory Grid (RepGrid) method to elicit lists of incident response skills from industry experts. Skill archetypes were then identified by clustering incident responders who share similar characteristics. The findings extend the Theory of Resource Complements and provide managers with practical guidance regarding the skill sets most critical to the incident response role. Collapse

Abstract: In this paper, we examine the relation between social media use and the absorptive capacity of organisations. Over the past 10 years, many organisations have systematically adopted social media. Trade press and consulting companies often claim that the systematic use of social media increases the performance of organisations. However, such claims are typically neither empirically grounded nor theoretically examined. In this paper, based on key informant interviews at 20 organisations, we examine these claims empirically and theoretically. Firstly, we examine the ways in which social media are used by organisations. We identify five different social media use types that support different organisational purposes (broadcast, dialogue, collaboration, knowledge management and sociability). Secondly, we analyse how these five social media use types relate to organisations’ absorptive capacity. We find that particular social media use types (e.g., dialogue) support organisations’ absorptive capacity and, ultimately, their performance although others (e.g., sociability) do not. Collapse
