Abstract: The nursing discipline is increasingly confronted with far-reaching challenges that are a prominent subject in public discourse. Factors such as growing numbers of chronically ill patients and an ongoing decrease in medical personnel impose unprecedented strain on clinical care providers and nurses, which requires high levels of resilience on an individual and organizational level. The introduction of digital information and communication technology (ICT) in the workplace is intended to counteract these challenges and foster resilient everyday care. However, studies that investigate the interplay of digitalization and individual resilience are scarce. Hence, we propose a mixed-method approach to explore how ICT use in a clinical work setting influences nurses' sense of coherence. This construct has been used as a theoretical foundation to investigate resilience in nursing. Further, the exploration of individual coping strategies in the light of ICT-related disturbances in the workplace and associated job-related outcomes complement the research agenda. Collapse

Abstract: Robo-advisors are a new type of FinTech increasingly used by millennials in place of traditional financial advice. Building on artificial intelligence, robo-advisors provide personalized asset and wealth management services. Their application and study have hitherto focused exclusively on individual advisory regarding asset management. We observe a pressing need to investigate roboadvisors' application for complex artificial intelligence based recommendation tasks both, in context of group decision-making and in contexts beyond asset management, due to robo-advisors' potential as a lever for integrating artificial intelligence in the entire decision-making process. Thus, we present a action design research in progress aimed at designing such a robo-advisor. More specifically, this study investigates whether and how robo-advisory promotes consensus-efficient group decision-making in new types of economic scenarios (after-sales). Based on a comprehensive problem formulation, we aim towards deriving a set of meta-requirements and design principles that are embodied in a preliminary prototypical instantiation of a robo-advisor. Abstract: Interorganizational data sharing (IODS) grows increasingly complex in the context of business ecosystems. As the literature on IODS finds that organizations only share data if they perceive benefits from it, this study explores value appropriation strategies (VAS) through an ongoing inductive case study of the German orthopedic ecosystem, exploiting interview and secondary data from executives of various treatment facilities and a leading manufacturer of health products. Our preliminary grounded theorizing indicates that VAS for IODS involve four elements (partner selection, data tailoring, reciprocal design, and control enforcement) that each are realized by specific VAS activities. Further, we find that, different from other contexts, ensuring VAS for IODS is not about controlling the value creation process but is grounded in upstream strategic decisions. This understanding of VAS for IODS indicates that having strategies for value appropriation in place before diving into IODS is crucial for succeeding in data ecosystems. Collapse

Abstract: Modern organizations are adopting Big Data-Driven (BDD) systems to obtain and sustain their competitive advantage through improved decisions. However, the changes in the organizational decision structure and processes due to the establishment of these systems raised the question of how becoming data-driven will affect the traditional role of human decision-makers in organizations. Specifically, this research-in-progress study investigates the mechanisms through which the use of BDD systems impacts organizational decisionmakers' power. To address this research question, the study draws on the premises of the strategic contingencies theory of intra-organizational power and the literature on BDD decision-making in organizations and develops a theoretical model to be tested empirically. Abstract: The proliferation of smart technologies transforms the way individual consumers perform tasks. Considerable research alludes that smart technologies are often related to domestic energy consumption. However, it remains unclear how such technologies transform tasks and thereby impact our planet. We explore the role of technological smartness in personal day-to-day tasks that help create a more sustainable future. In the absence of theory, but facing extensive changes in everyday life enabled by smart technologies, we draw on phenomenon-based theorizing (PBT) guidelines. As anchor, we refer to task endogeneity related to task-technology fit theory (TTF). As infusion, we employ theory on public goods. Our model proposes novel relations between the concepts of smart-autonomy and -transparency with sustainable task outcomes, mediated by task convenience and task significance. Abstract: Informative chatbots embedded in an organization-specific context can provide a reliable, interactive, and engaging source of information for users. However, traditional chatbot techniques have limitations in processing and understanding user input and generating human-like responses. On the other hand, the latest implementations of large language models show promising results in these domains but have limitations in providing accurate and up-to-date facts from domain-specific knowledge bases. With the advent of popular chatbots like Chat-GPT, they are increasingly becoming part of organizations' digital infrastructure. In this research-in-progress paper, we argue that the strengths and weaknesses of traditional techniques and large language models are complementary. Therefore, we propose a hybrid chatbot architecture that utilizes inter-agent communication to compensate for disadvantages while enhancing the chatbot's abilities, as perceived by the user. This approach will form the basis for development and evaluation using Design Science Research (DSR) as part of our research. Collapse

Abstract: The area of Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) has repeatedly oscillated between more central, efficiency-oriented, professionalized approaches and decentral, agility-oriented, user-driven ones. This paper investigates whether and how to alleviate that tradeoff by combining an agility-oriented self-service analytics approach with the professionalization-driven DataOps concept: DataOps aims at transferring ideas from DevOps to the realm of analytics, namely a mutual integration of Development and Operations and a high degree of professionalization and automation. A case study with a series of interviews and a workshop led to insights into the viability of such a combination. These inspire a theoretical concept for capturing the economics behind the approaches that is considering the (opportunity) costs of the components "user agency" and "central control". The concept has been evaluated with representatives from the case study. Based on the results, I argue that the discussed combination can push BIA solutions towards fine-tuned federated environments. Abstract: Digital transformation (DT) is a complex and dynamic phenomenon that requires a significant shift in organizational culture and mindset, necessitating new theoretical perspectives to understand the interactions between technology and people. This article conducts a critical literature review of the extant literature on DT, contrasting traditional Information Systems (IS) theories with assemblage theory. Assemblage theory provides a dynamic framework to analyze the various components of DT and their interactions, acknowledging the significance of power dynamics and politics in shaping the direction and outcomes of DT initiatives. This paper provides different theoretical perspectives in digital transformation literature by analyzing 70 articles published in premier IS journals. Abstract: Social campaigns influence attitudes in society, but too much information can cause cognitive overload. Traditional methods for measuring cognitive overload are subjective. There is potential for using cognitive neuroscience methods because these tools measure consumers' unconscious responses and provide better understanding of cognitive functions. We have elaborated an experimental framework to enable the assessment of media messages in social campaigns concerning the cognitive overload that they cause. The proposed framework will be tested by performing an experiment on specific social advertising to prove its usefulness and show the research possibilities that it offers. As a result, we expect to expand the framework into a system that could be used by practitioners for evaluating social advertising before launching the campaign. Collapse
