Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) transits from merely adopted technology to fueling everyday decision-making systems from medication to navigation. With this combination of AI in decision-making systems (ADMS), the present study explores how text-based users' data from social media helps organize the users' perspectives of ADMS? To investigate our research questions, we used a framework consisting of three phases, exploratory, confirmatory, and validatory. We applied hierarchy clustering and topic modeling in the exploratory study, hypothesis building, and empirical analysis during the confirmatory study and support vector machine (SVM) in the validatory study. Our findings suggest that users are primarily concerned about the risk involved in using ADMS. Factors like accountability, self-efficacy, knowledge of ADMS individuals' attitudes towards ADMS impact the perception of ADMS among individuals. This study's theoretical and practical implications have great scope as ADMS is still in its elementary stage. Collapse

Abstract: In this work we explore the question of whether there is a genetic basis for people’s different propensities to search for information. Specifically, we test whether the rs1044396 polymorphism—one variation in the cholinergic receptor nicotinic alpha 4 (CHRNA4) gene—is a reliable predictor of propensity to search for information. A sample of 205 subjects performed an information search task and then donated genetic material, which was analyzed. Using these data we found that the rs1044396 polymorphism is associated with both search duration and the amount of information searched, contributing a genetic explanation for a portion of propensity to search for information. People with the C:C version of rs1044396 gathered 25% more information but spent 13% less time on each piece of information than people with T-alleles before making a decision. Thus, the amount of information that people gather and the temporal cost of gathering that information have a strong genetic component, which has implications for internet search strategies, information use, and information systems design. Abstract: Voice, or employees’ upward expression of challenging but constructive concerns or ideas on work-related issues, can play a critical role in improving organizational effectiveness. Despite its importance, evidence suggests that many managers are often hesitant to solicit voice from their employees. We develop and test a new theory that seeks to explain this puzzling reluctance. Voice is a distinctive behavior that involves escalation of opinions, ideas, or concerns by employees to their managers with the expectation that they would respond by making systemic changes in their teams. Hence, we argue that managers are likely to solicit voice more when they perceive requisite discretion and influence (personal control) to effect changes in their teams. Additionally, because voice-driven change can cause short-term disruptions and bring about benefits typically only over time, we propose that managers act on their personal control to solicit more voice when they also possess adequate long-term orientation. We find support for our arguments across four studies using experimental as well as correlational methods. We discuss the conceptual and practical implications of our findings. Collapse

Abstract: Game-based IS features are popular means to change behavior. While existing studies indicate a successful impact of gamified IS features, others show opposite effects. However, there are no studies that have investigated the underlying motivational processes of single gamified IS features and the additional possible support of subliminally primed IS features for the desired goal attainment. To address this gap, we examine the interaction between users and the gamified feature ‘Ranking’ on concentration enhancement, while studying the moderation effects of self-efficacy and a subliminally primed IS feature in a laboratory experiment (N=407). Therefore, our paper sheds light on the theoretically and practically relevant question: how can gamification features lead to proper interaction with the user to effectively support desired goal attainment. The results show varying reactions of either positive or negative feedback, to the ranking, depending on individual’s self-efficacy. While test persons with low self-efficacy show better performance results receiving negative feedback, participants with high selfefficacy perceptions reveal better performance rates receiving positive feedback. Furthermore, we could not observe a significant impact of the subliminally primed feature regarding mechanisms of the consciously perceived game feature ‘Ranking’ on concentration enhancement. Abstract: Perceived usefulness has been found to be significantly correlated with self-reported current use and selfpredicted future use of information systems. However, Davis (1989) points out that perceived usefulness is a subjective appraisal of system performance, and thus it may lead to under or over estimates of performance. Underestimates of system performance may lead to decreased satisfaction and a refusal to use the system, despite possibilities of objective performance enhancement, while on the other hand overestimates of system performance may lead to increased satisfaction and use of a system, even thought the system is objectively detrimental to performance. In the current study we examine the impact of two types of DSS support, decisional guidance and cognitive feedback, on user estimates of DSS performance and user satisfaction with the DSS. The results of the study show that subjects receiving cognitive feedback were as satisfied with their DSS as subjects receiving decisional guidance, despite having much poorer performance levels. We discuss the implications of these results for the accurate measurement of user perceptions of DSS usefulness. Collapse
