Abstract: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are critical to the success of enterprises, facilitating business operations through standardized digital processes. However, existing ERP systems are unsuitable for startups and small and medium-sized enterprises that grow quickly and require adaptable solutions with low barriers to entry. Drawing upon 15 explorative interviews with industry experts, we examine the challenges of current ERP systems using the task technology fit theory across companies of varying sizes. We describe high entry barriers, high costs of implementing implicit processes, and insufficient interoperability of already employed tools. We present a vision of a future business process platform based on three enablers: Business processes as first-class entities, semantic data and processes, and cloud-native elasticity and high availability. We discuss how these enablers address current ERP systems' challenges and how they may be used for research on the next generation of business software for tomorrow's enterprises. Abstract: Design science as a research paradigm is gaining popularity in the information systems (IS) discipline. E-gov­ ernment research explores IS artifacts designed to improve the quality and efficiency of public administration and service. This paper utilizes the E-government Design Research Model (EgovDR Model) to review e-gov­ ernment designs. Through a comprehensive literature review, this paper identifies prototypical e-government tasks for design science implementation and the corresponding solutions. We demonstrate whether and how the development and evolution of e-government designs continue to gain relevance in design science research. Additionally, this paper identifies and analyzes the theories employed in the literature to illustrate how the EgovDR Model has facilitated e-government designs in increasing rigor over time. Abstract: Industrial companies already apply digital twins for the digital representation of the physical world. In addition, information sharing becomes increasingly decisive for the competition, e.g. in supply networks where products and logistics data such as demands and capacities are exchanged. As many companies are, however, highly reluctant to share data across the supply chain, this paper applies the methodology of design science research to, first, state the requirements for shared digital twins based on five industrial use cases. It turns out that with regard to data decentralism, sovereignty and compatibility through global standardization are key success factors. Hence, second, this paper presents a concept for a shared digital twin providing data on demand, i.e. at the right time and in particular with data condensed to the concrete need. Collapse

Abstract: An increasingly large number of sets of linked open data (LOD), typically in RDF format, are being published on the Semantic Web. Those data represent a potentially valuable resource for data analysis, particularly online analytical processing (OLAP), which often employs multidimensional (MD) models for conducting MD data analysis. Conducting MD analysis over LOD, however, is not a straightforward task. Most analysts will lack the technical skills to query LOD sources using an unfamiliar query language over data in a format not traditionally associated with MD data analysis. In this paper, we introduce the concept of the semantic web analysis graph (SWAG), which allows experts familiar with the LOD source to plot interesting courses of analysis for other users. We present a proof-of-concept prototype. The results of a usability study show that SWAGs may serve to build intuitive user interfaces. Collapse

Abstract: A key challenge in current Business Analytics (BA) is the selection of suitable indicators for business objectives. This requires the exploration of business data through data-driven approaches, while modelling business stra­ tegies together with domain experts in order to represent domain knowledge. In particular, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) allow human experts to properly model ambiguous enterprise goals by means of quantitative variables with numeric ranges and clear thresholds. Besides business-related domains, the usefulness of KPIs has been shown in multiple domains, such as: Education, Healthcare and Agriculture. However, finding accurate KPIs for a given strategic goal still remains a complex task, specially due to the discrepancy between domain as­ sumptions and data facts. In this regard, the semantic web emerges as a powerful technology for knowledge representation and data modeling through explicit representation formats and standards such as RDF(S) and OWL. By using this technology, the semantic annotation of indicators of business objectives would enrich the strategic model obtained. With this motivation, an ontology-driven approach is proposed to formally concep­ tualize essential elements of indicators, covering: performance, results, measures, goals and relationships of a given business strategy. In this way, all the data involved in the selection and analysis of KPIs are then integrated and stored in common repositories, hence enabling sophisticated querying and reasoning for semantic validation. The proposed semantic model is evaluated on a real-world case study on water management. A series of data analysis and reasoning tasks are conducted to show how the ontological model is able to detect semantic conflicts in actual correlations of selected indicators. Collapse

Abstract: Enterprise collaboration platforms are large-scale information infrastructures that provide a wide range of tools and functionality to support collaborative work in organizations. These collaborative activities leave digital traces in the form of social documents, which can be analyzed to understand how employees work together to coordinate their joint work. In this paper, we present the findings of a research project to visualize the structure of social documents to prepare them for analysis as traces of collaborative activity. Using the representation of social documents defined in the Social Document Ontology (SocDOnt), we draw on concepts from graph theory to develop a method for the graphical visualization of social documents. Applying this method to analyze the social documents in an operational enterprise collaboration platform, we identify and display different types of social documents and define their characteristic structure. Our findings provide the necessary foundation for conducting computational ethnographies of collaborative work. Collapse

Abstract: Urban traffic congestion is a problem which affects the world and is related to the massive urbanization and excessive number of cars on our streets. This causes a variety of problems, from economical/financial and health-related, to environmental warnings caused by high CO2 and NO2 emissions. This paper proposes a novel software engineering solution, which generates a software application aimed at individual drivers on urban roads, in order to help and ease overall congestion. The novelty is twofold. We target individual drivers in order to motivate them to re-think the purpose and goals of each journey they take. Consequently, the proposed software application enables reasoning upon various options an individual driver may have and helps in choosing the best possible solution for an individual. Our software application utilizes reasoning with SWRL enabled OWL ontologies, which can be hosted by any software application we run in our cars, ready to assist in driving, and implemented in Android / iOS environments. Abstract: Enterprise collaboration platforms are large scale, highly integrated information infrastructures that enable many hundreds of employees to work collaboratively and share information. In this paper, we lay the theoretical and analytical foundations for the use of social documents as digital traces of collaborative activity in enterprise collaboration platforms. Through a review of related research and an empirical analysis of social documents, we identify key concepts and structures, providing the foundation for the Social Document Ontology (SocDOnt). SocDOnt expresses the generic structure of social documents and extends previous work in two important ways. At the micro-level a social document is defined as a composition of an intellectual entity enhanced by both intellectual and simple components and at the macro-level a collection is defined as an aggregation of social documents. These analytical constructs enable a more nuanced and granular analysis of social documents to understand collaborative activity in enterprise collaboration platforms. Collapse

Abstract: Twitter is a microblog that contains large amounts of users who contribute with messages for a wide variety of real-world events. It is possible to identify users who share the same interests using the messages published in their timeline. However, those users can stop publishing interesting content anytime, thus finding any interesting content manually is a hard task. Taken into account users' access on Twitter, he may lose important tweets, or only a part of all tweets will be relevant to him. Indeed, we can observe that it is important to develop automated mechanisms to filter out these messages. In this project, we propose a semantic recommendation system based on SWRL rules to recommend accounts to be followed or unfollowed. To evaluate the recommendations, we conducted an experiment with real users. The results show that 80% of the recommendations were generated to unfollow and 20% to follow some account. Collapse
