Abstract: Conversational agents (CAs) are digital artifacts which communicate with humans through natural language for performing a variety of tasks. When humans interact with CAs, affective responses e.g., emotions, are seen to influence both CA adoption and performance. Despite the vital role of affect in human-CA interaction, understanding of its antecedents, affective outcomes, and their relationships from prior research is nascent and segregated. Motivated thus, we review empirical studies on affect in human-CA interactions, classify them in terms of affective outcomes, and identify corresponding antecedents. We further analyze the relationships between antecedents and outcomes and highlight significant relationships as well as inconsistent findings. Drawing on the review, we propose future research directions for this area. We contribute by developing a deeper understanding of research on affect between human and CAs, identifying gaps in prior knowledge, and outlining future research directions. Additionally, we lay out our plans for extending this work. Collapse

Abstract: Chief Digital Officers (CDOs) play a multitude of roles as they facilitate digital transformation. In this opinion paper, we draw on an interview that we undertook with the CDO at a major Chinese software and technology services firm to highlight the intricacies and idiosyncrasies of digital transformation work both within the or­ ganization and externally to clients. Abstract: Interoperability is a key challenge for organizations to collaborate with each other and be able to provide high-quality services. Digital Government (e-Government) focuses on value delivery to citizens through information and communication technology (ICT) support for processes, activities, and resources, from different public organizations. Hence, interoperability in the context of e-Government is of critical importance to link and integrate processes and services sharing data from organizations to deliver better public services to citizens. Business Process Management (BPM) provides support for the business processes lifecycle, defining phases and activities to provide services or products with value for end users. Successful inter-organizational collaborative process management within e-Government organizations will lead to better conceptual and technological integration, not only with each other but also with citizens and users in general. Abstract: In the field of multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM), “decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory” (DEMATEL) is a popular method that has been deployed to discover hidden relationships among many inter-twined factors of numerous real-world problems. This paper discusses several limitations of the DEMATEL method in mining the causal relationships and ranking the factors. Also, in this paper, we develop a novel decision-making framework that will be able to overcome the issues found in the DEMATEL method and tackle both formal and informal decisions. This model, which we call “Causal Relationship and Ranking Technique (CRRT)”, uses a data-deterministic expert weighing setup rather than assigning equal weights or pre-defined weights to each expert. The model proposes a better technique to mine factor inter-relations and proposes two new types of digraphs portraying the causal inter-relationships among the factors, and also proposes a new two-step factor ranking method based on the derived causal relationships. The intuitionistic fuzzy setting is considered in this work in order to capture the uncertainty of expert opinions. Furthermore, our proposed framework is applied to a real-life case study on discovering various factors of a high school administration, that have a significant influence on students’ performance. Comparison with standard methods such as TOPSIS and VIKOR for student performance data and also some other datasets such as supplier selection data, and sustainability data proves that the model is able to rank the factors better than the existing models. Abstract: The role of technology in shaping regulatory processes has been widely studied in the field of digital governance. This research complements such literature by exposing how data technologies are shaping the regulatory trajectory of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. The paper discusses the regulatory challenges surrounding ESG and the position that data technologies have assumed in addressing such issues. The case explored with this research is Bloomberg's methodology for proprietary ES Scores. This study contributes to the e-government literature by emphasizing how the absence of law both accelerates and constrains the scope of technology and how technology alleviates regulatory concerns whilst also assuming governing properties. This paper offers valuable insights into the complex production of ESG data and contributes with accentuating the imperative of ESGTech in guiding digital governance. Collapse

Abstract: With technology increasingly being at the forefront of value generation for firms, organizations turn their attention to procuring IT assets as they leverage their resources strategically to derive value from their investments. While past efforts have traditionally focused on evaluating IT investments' impact on firm value and performance, recent work has sought to understand organizations' IT investment choices and, saliently, their commitment to IT investment plans by evaluating firms' realized IT spending in light of past investment plans. Acknowledging that organizations' engagement in real earnings management has been recognized as a driver of commitment to IT investment plans, we propose an extension of recent work by evaluating the effect of macroeconomic forces on this relationship, namely, technology shocks. We aim to shed light on the impact of emerging technologies on organizations' IT investment choices and increase our understanding of their commitment to investment plans by considering external forces. Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about major changes in digitization in many areas of life and professions. New areas were digitized almost overnight, the school system in Germany was no exception leading to a demand for videoconferencing tools and communication platforms. These technologies have many different functionalities that need to be discovered, explored, and exploited by the user. Given the disruptive events that the COVID pandemic brought to us, this paper aims to shed light on how the dynamics of discovery, exploration, and exploitation unfolds. We use a functional affordance theory perspective to analyze and understand how user learn to use new technologies. To do this, we conducted an exploratory case-study-based research design including interviews with teachers from various schools to analyze how they appropriate new technologies to develop an explanatory theoretical model. Abstract: We investigate the effectiveness of two types of impression management tactics implemented around negative attributes: egocentric (claiming the absence or low presence of a negative attribute in a focal organization) and alter-centric tactics (claiming the greater presence of a negative attribute in an organization’s competitor). We claim that the effectiveness of each tactic depends on the risk of audiences’ skepticism, which stems from the incongruence between the information conveyed in the tactic and audiences’ default expectations about the presence of the attribute among members of a given market segment. Audiences expect a conspicuous presence of the attribute, we propose, the more stakeholders contest a market segment for that very attribute. Thus, we advance that egocentric (alter-centric) tactics are less likely to be effective for contested (uncontested) attributes because the information conveyed in such tactics clashes with audiences’ default expectations, triggering skepticism. We find support for our predictions looking at the impact of nutrient content claims on product sales in the U.S. food retail industry between 2006 and 2015. Funding: H.
